Sara's POV

It was a regular day in South Fayette when my mom told me the news. I had gotten home from school and I turned the corner from the foyer and peeked into the living room. My parents were sitting on the couch waiting for me. I sat down in the chair opposite them and put my bag down next to me. "What's up? Is something wrong?" I said confused. Now let's backtrack, my parents have been very busy with their jobs for a couple months and they very rarely have time for me. My mom is an around the clock nurse and my dad is a detective, ok back to the story.

"Oh well...I'll just get straight to the point, Your father has a case to tend to in Chicago and I have a 2-day training in Huston." She said with a half smile on her face, trying to make this more positive. My parents leave a lot for training and cases so I'm often home alone but this time it was different.

"What!? No, you can't just up and leave now. You just got back from the last outing not even 3 days ago!" I said frustrated.

"Well, we need to do this baby. It's for our jobs and our jobs keep you in this beautiful house."

"No, Mom my birthday is in two days! Did you forget about that?" I said.

"Oh, well we can celebrate your birthday when we come back." Dad said.

I rolled my eyes and sighed. This is the second time in a row that they have postponed my birthday. Could this get any worse?

"So until then you'll be staying with Grandma because the construction worker coming to work on the house while we're gone." Dad said.

"What! Why are you doing this to me I hate her she is terrifying." I said as I ran up to my room and slam the door so loud I think our neighbors across the street heard it.

"respect your elders young la-" mom said before I had already left. I just hate how my parents just go off like this, I know they are working and stuff but it's getting old. I called my BFF and told her what happened. She screamed and got all ecstatic then said that she wanted to come with me to my grandma's house. There a plan came to my head.
