I find it quite funny how no amount of money can give you true happiness. Even your wildest materialistic dreams could never truly fulfill that warm euphoric glow in your stomach of feeling happy. Its often the simple things in life that make me happy. I'm going to paint a few pictures of moments of absolute happiness that I can remember well purely based on how I felt at the time.

A Friday afternoon, I'm tired after a strenuous week of hard-work and long days, after completing my homework I get changed, my mother comes home and we have dinner, afterwards we all enjoy a cup of tea, I put my feet up, read a magazine and drink my tea whilst the low murmur of the television and the low lights of the evening create the perfect atmosphere of a promising weekend and pure relaxation.

I check my phone for the time, I see that in five minutes time the opening act, 'Five Seconds of Summer' are going to come on stage, the anticipation building stronger and stronger as girls start to scream and I think of how I've waited months for this concert and the great Summer yet to come as this is only day one. And all of a sudden out come the members of the band and I join in the scream of the thousands of girls such as myself, overjoyed at seeing these people in real life and not just on a screen. They play their music and in that moment I take in what is happening and in my heart I can feel an unbelievable happiness and smile so brightly. Later on as 'One Direction' come on stage that experience repeats, and now if anyone asks, I know for sure that night was the best night of my life.

My parents and I sit outside enjoying the unlikely heatwave in September, I can feel the sun's beams on my back as I stroke a curious kitten that wandered into our garden. I laugh as the tiny cute cat jumps around after a leaf. The wind rustles the leaves on the trees and all around I can hear the sounds of people's lives ; children laughing, families the same as mine enjoying the weather and cars going from place to place. The insects and the birds hum and twitter and I feel peaceful and simply happy.

However those kind of situations aren't as common as a simple hug from a loved one, a smile from a stranger when you feel down, helping someone, somebody being polite or going out of their way to do something for you, your mother's home cooking, listening to your favourite song loudly, laughing so hard you feel as if you might throw up, the smell of food cooking when you are hungry, reading a good book, wearing comfortable clothes ,getting into bed when you are tired, going on holidays, having a day-out with your friends, finally getting around to watching that television show you meant to watch for ages and going to sleep to the sound of rain and wind howling.

Everyone experiences those happy moments, not just me. These moments may be little things but they can mean a lot. I have been lucky enough to experience these and I'm grateful as I'm a happy person, because in today's world sadly there is a lot of depression and sadness. However safe to say, there are a lot of simple things that make me happy.
