In honor of self-improvement month (September) we want a selection of characters who improve themselves to be the best that they can be. This breaks the stereotypes that black people as a whole do nothing to improve themselves.
So, we want y'all to do is create a black main character that faces some kind of problem holding them back. In this area you have complete freedom as to what issue it is ranging from school to mental illness. There must be improvement of the character that comes from their actions however whatever way they improve themselves is completely up to you, the writer.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Main character must be black, everything else is fair game from gender to age to sexual orientation ;)
2. Main character must be facing an issue otherwise you're not following the theme. Again, the issue is nonspecific so it's up to you!
3. Your character must improve themselves for the obvious reason.
4. Chapters must be at LEAST 500 words!
START: NOW (September 1st)
END: September 8th
Winners will be announced on this page saveblackcharacters
Oh and don't forget to use the hashtags #sbccontest so we can find your stories and you can enter. Good luck!
