Tyler's POV
Two years and we still haven't found a way to get them out. I hate this. Not even the smartest men can find a way. They've went through all the coding. They say they have to be let out through the wharf tunnel they went through. Which the game master owns. This is stupid. I get online and go to the Cafe where they're working. I walk in sadly. Jonathan is the first to notice me. "SHE'S HERE!" He screeches. All the workers run over waiting for good news. I frown. "I-I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do. We've gotten all the genius' we know. They all say the same thing. The game master has to let you out." I say. They frown. Jonathan starts crying and his fiance comforts him. They all gloomily get back to work. I look at Mason who was beside me frowning at the screen. We became an item. He's been working hard to help me. Suddenly the guys look around. I watch the screen. They all crowd together again. "Do you hear that Tyler?" Evan asks. I turn the volume up a bit more. "No." I say. "Leave the game! Now! He's gonna suck you in too!" Ben yells. Mason is the one to act. He turns off the computer. I blink. "Why didn't you do anything?" He asks. "That... that's it! If I'm sucked in! The guys can track me! A fresh trail!" I cheer. "But what if they can't track you. You'll be stuck. I won't be able to see you or hold you in real life." He says sadly. I kiss him. "I'm sorry. But I have to try." I say and run off. I look back to see sadness in his eyes which broke my heart but. I have to. This is my job. I get in my car and drive to the corporate. I run to Jennifer, our units techno. "Jennifer Jennifer Jennifer!" I say. "Tyler. You are right here. What is it?" She asks lamely. "I think I found a way to get them out." I say. She perks up. "Oh really? How?" She asks. "If I go in. You can track where I went. Through the portal. You see this guy sucks randoms in. What if I'm a random?" I ask. She looks at me like I'm crazy. Oh yeah. She doesn't understand slang. "If the game master were to pull me in through the portal between the real and gaming world. You could track where I go through electromagnetic waves." I explain lamely. Her eyes widen. "Oh my, Tyler that is the smartest thing you've ever said! How did I not think of it before?!" She screeches. "Aw thank you I-Hey! I can say smart stuff if I want to!" I say. She grabs my arm. "No time. Start playing the game." She says and pulls me into the break room. Oh yeah. There's a console in here. She pulls out the game from a drawer and pops the disk in. "Wait before you play it. Sign in while I get some stuff." She says. Soon there are wire things on my head and alot of scientists and apprentices in the room watching me. I flush and start the game. I join and run over to the Cafe. I feel people's eyes on my back, burning holes in me. "C-can the others get out?" I ask. Jennifer groans but allows most to get out. There were only two people other than her and I. Better. I get to the Cafe and turn mic on. "Hey guys. I'm back." I say. They gasp. "What?! How'd you get past the update?!" Ben asks and runs over to my player model. "What update?" I ask. "We put up a 24 hour long update screen to keep people from joining. Because in 2 minutes game master is pulling every single person who is playing into the game." Evan explains. "What? That's silly." I say and motion silence to the people behind me. "It's true Tyler. You of all people should know this." Jonathan says and hands my player a cup of tea, who drinks it. Stupid character. Making it seem like they can shut me up with coffee. "Yeah but he only adds people in groups right? And I'm the only player in the game right?" I say. "When I was here. I was all alone for two days before the others came. Trust me you aren't avoiding this." Ben growls. "Eh. I'm staying anyway." I say. They glare at me. "You have a life. A love. A job. To stay with. And by standing here. You are losing all that. Do you want to risk everything you know and love for this torture? This world of digital imaging. Of living in fear that you'll die by getting shot. A car crash. Stabbed. Drowned. Not peacefully. But painfully. Are you going to risk that?" Evan snapped. I look in his eyes and see nothing but sadness. I open my mouth yet say nothing. When I finally find my voice. I say. "What if the real world. Isn't the life I want to live? What if. I live in that exact fear you live in right now? What if that world.... seems happier. Than this?" I ask. Where did that come from? I guess it's true. But. I love Mason and my family. And all of that. Suddenly my chest begins to hurt. I look and see the monitor going insane. "It's happening! She's entering the game!" Jennifer cheers. That's the last thing I hear before everything goes black. When I wake up I'm laying in the street. I gasp and get up. "I-I'm in!" I say. I look around and see the Cafe not far away. I walk in and don't act like myself. "She just left the game. I guess we got to her." Ben says. Jonathan kisses Evan's cheek. Evan was crying. "Calm down babe. We'll get out I promise." He says. "No we aren't. We're stuck in this horrible place forever. I'll never see my real wife ever again. What if we had kids. A beautiful girl or handsome boy that misses their dad. Don't any of you think of that? What the real world could be like? Whether we had kids? Wives? Husbands? Friends? Parents?" He asks. I frown and sit down, grabbing a menu and continuing to listen. "I had none of that Evan. You never had kids. None of you did. Some had girlfriends. But only you had a wife. Most of your parents didn't keep in touch. We all had a job with thousands of people either hating or loving us. We were happy. Yes. But I wasn't. I thought you guys would be better off forgetting but Evan the pain in your eyes. You need to get out. All the guys need to get out. I should have been helping look rather than sitting back and hope you don't. All of your happiness is more important than mine." Jonathan says. Things go silent. He... that poor man. He lived a happy life according to records. Not one mental disability. Lived happily ever after basically.....
