Except Sleep

My eyes and body is tired but my mind is awake,
This is the fifth night in a row.
My eyes grow heavier, but my mind's racing,
Racing, but no where to go.

The light blinked red when I turned it on,
My pen scratches this page.
I wish I could sleep but sleep eludes me,
Between my mind and body does war wage.

Late night rambles aren't so rambly,
When you've to think them through.
As much as I want to write more, I've finished this poem,
So there's nothing more to do.

Except sleep.
