You could still feel the glow of the summer holiday on your skin, although the school building being crowded with students officially ended the vacation feeling you were still bathing in. In a way you had missed this place. In a way you were missing Europe right now. You had never thought to see this much in only a couple of months, but it was surprising how small the distances were over there.
"(Y/N)?" Jughead almost bumped into you. His hair was wet as if he came straight from the shower and he hid his hand behind his back while his lips curled up into a smile.
"The one and only." You wrapped your arms around him and while laughing out loud you stepped back. "Did you miss me? Did you miss my good looks? And my rambling?" You cocked your head slightly and crossed your arms over your chest. "And you do know that your answer will have an everlasting influence on our friendship."
Jughead nodded. "Yeah, I missed you." He eventually smiled again. "I missed someone to talk to about all the shit that happened lately." He bent his head and stared at his feet and you widened your eyes when you noticed what he was hiding behind his back.
"Jug?" You frowned your eyebrows. "Why are you hiding mozzarella sticks from me? And why the hell are you eating those things for breakfast in the first place?" You stared at him and when your glance locked with his you saw a certain pain and vulnerability you had not seen for a long time. "Why do I get the feeling that I missed something very very important?"
"I'm not living with my father anymore." Jughead shrugged his shoulders. "But don't worry about me, okay? I'll be fine." He meant it. And the truth was that he was probably right too. He would be fine. But with fine he meant alive. He wouldn't be happy. "So..." He licked his lips. "Venice, Paris, Amsterdam...What's next? How are you gonna top that?"
You shrugged your shoulders. "By going there with you the next time? I really hated it that I couldn't bring you with me. And I know, I know, you didn't want me and my parents to pay for the whole thing, but so long without you? I'm never doing that again. I have a whole selfish reason for paying your trip to wherever I want to go." You grabbed his hands and rubbed his knuckles. "I need you." You curled your lips up into a smile. "Because faith makes everything possible, love makes everything easier and I've heard that Europe is even more beautiful for an in love couple." You kept on smiling while you stopped talking, but Jughead didn't say anything. "Where are you living, by the way? Did your father kick you out? Did you kick yourself out?"
"I don't want anything to do with him anymore." Jughead held onto your hands as if you were the most important thing he had ever had. "It's better to have no dad than my dad." He took a deep breath and then he looked up at you.
"Jug..." You pulled him a little closer towards you before you kissed his lips. "You're a great person, don't ever forget that." You pulled back. "You'll get through this. We'll get through this. Together."
"I know."
