“10 Green bottles standing on a wall,
10 green bottles standing on a wall,
& if one green bottle should accidentally fall,
They’ll be my hope of happiness scattered on the floor.”
Soft songs, nursery rhymes,
Blurred out by a hawk’s cries.
Peregrine.
Do you know what they sound like?
& that they fly to my minds heights?
Bird watching with beer goggles,
Answers lie in JD bottles.
& if this turns out to be untrue,
Another cork will be unscrewed.
They say you learn from your mistakes,
But what if you’ve forgotten the ones you’ve made?
I’ll always sing to the same song,
Devil’s water forgives what I’ve done wrong.
Empty bottles are trial runs,
I’ll keep on drinking till the time comes.
Till the time I can live again,
For now, Johnnie Walker is my friend.
Aged for seven years,
Single malt whiskey mixed with tears.
So it seems it’s a year for every sin,
Dilutes the pain of the wounds that aren’t evident.
Who says happiness doesn’t last?
There’s plenty more inside this glass.
Ticking time bomb, soon implode,
My past inscribed on labels of gold.
I don’t wish to sit & reminisce,
My past & all it’s bitterness.
So I drink till it fades away,
Let the hawk’s cry another day…
“10 Green bottles standing on a wall,
10 green bottles standing on a wall,
& if one green bottle should accidentally fall,
They’ll be my hope of happiness scattered on the floor.”
