"So, what did you want to talk about?" I asked, sitting comfortably next to my Mum on the sofa.
"Well... due to you being my first born daughter, things will be different for you." She started.
"Oh, I realised that a long time ago." I muttered, recalling being labelled a reject for twenty years of my life.
"No, not different like that. Different as in your power." She reassured, causing my curiosity to spark up.
"Oh? And how am I in any way powerful?" I joked.
"Iris, you are my first born, which means you will inherit my powers. Although you won't be able to grow fangs like a vampire, or ride a witches broom, you will be respected by all supernaturals. You are my heir. Eventually, we will grow too old and you, along with my sister's first borns, will become the next generation of The Widows." Her grin faltered when she notices my confused expression.
"I have questions." I stated quickly.
"I gathered." She joked, a small smile finding it's way to her face.
"I didn't even know there were other supernaturals... And I have cousins? Why are you named The Widows?" I listed.
"I don't know why you have never been told of other supernaturals - or met one in fact! Many tales make it seem that supernaturals are at war with each other, or have a deep rooted hatred for each other when in reality it is the complete opposite. We're all good allies with each other. In fact, your mate has a very close relationship with vampires." She grinned, watching as my face lit up at the mention of Zander.
"You have two cousins, Layla and Sonya. They're the same age as you and unfortunately they have had a similar background to you." She recited. "The name The Widows originates from decades ago when one of our ancestors - the first ever Widow - was left widowed by her husband's death. A simple explanation but that really is it."
"Wow." I breathed, engulfing as much information as I could process. "This is amazing! I can't believe there is vampires and stuff!" I exclaimed. "I guess that is a silly of me though, considering that I'm a werewolf."
Laughing, my Mum nodded agreeing with me, before becoming serious again. "Iris, I've been meaning to tell you this for a long time now. I don't know how to put this..." She sighed, "The man Zander killed: he wasn't your Father."
My face paled. No. No, that couldn't be true. He had to have been my Dad or how else would I have ended up with such an sick individual growing up?
"But if he wasn't my Dad then who is?" I questioned, possible explanations swirling through my mind. Did he die too? We were called The Widows, so what if that is a horrible inevitability which happens to us all?
"Your Father... He is a God." She says quietly, a small smile of admiration lining her features.
"A God?" I questioned, astonished at the revelation.
"Yes, Iris. Your true Father is a God." She finished, holding my hand between hers.
"Thinking about it, the years of suffering was worth it. After going through all of that pain, my life has been nothing short of incredible." I breathed with a huge smile. "Will I get to meet him?" I asked nervously.
"He is a very busy man Iris. But I know that he would find time in his time schedule to meet you. I'll have to phone him." She giggled, pressing a kiss to my cheek as she raised from the seat and started to leave the room.
Leaning into the soft heaven of the sofa, I closed my eyes as the silence was clouded by my thoughts. I was so glad that I had left my old pack and stepped into this territory. I was so glad I met Zander. I was so glad that I got a new chance at having a real family. Most importantly, I was so glad that my life had turned around so much in the last few months.
Feeling a hot breath hovering above my lips, I flicked my eyes open, only to be met with puddles of sparkling green. "Zander." I breathed, "You scared me."
"Sorry baby." He grinned, kissing my lips before sliding down next to me and pulling me onto his lap.
I watched as his amused eyes stared at me openly. "What, do I have something on my face?" I asked, touching my face.
"No. You just look unreal." He murmured, twirling my hair between his fingers.
"Stop." I blushed, hiding my red face in the crook of his neck, "You always say that to see me blush!" I scolded, half heartedly.
"Actually I just enjoy complimenting you, seeing you blush is just a plus." He stated, dodging as I went to playfully pinch him. "Abuse - Logan help! She's abusing your brother!" He joked, making me roll my eyes before Logan ran into the room and smirked deviously at me. He wouldn't dare.
Jumping off Zander's lap, I backed away from the two looming men stalking towards me, both adorned with identical devilish smirks. "Don't you dare do what I thin-" I didn't get to finish my sentence as they both leaped towards me. I squealed as they tackle me to the ground, tickling my body causing uncontrollable laughter to escape my lips.
"N-No... St-t-top!.... Oh my g-god!" I screamed out between laughter, trying to remove their fingers from me with no avail.
"Apologise for your abuse and we will stop!" Logan grinned, focusing on my most ticklish spot - my neck.
"I'm s-s-sorry! I'm sorry! Just st-t-top!" I shouted, my laughter dying down as the horrid boy's fingers were removed from my body. Taking deep breaths I calmed down, attempting to shoot my best glare at them whilst they laughed at me, only causing them to laugh harder.
"I hate you." I lied, huffing as I rushed out of the door of the room, trying to act like I was angry.
Two pairs of heavy footsteps followed after me, laughing out apologies as they sandwiched me in a hug. "Don't be upset boo, you have a gorgeous twin wrapped around you." Logan teased, only to get punched in the arm by Zander.
"Logan, you can go now." He stated, pulling me closer into his embrace.
"Bro, that's low. Even for you." Logan grumbled, shaking his head disappointedly. "You call me down here, I help you make your girl happy and then you shoo me away. What a great brother you are." He mumbled, turning and walking away, turning his head when he'd walked a few steps and pouting.
"Keep walking!" I exclaimed, laughing when he gave me a very rude one fingered hand gesture.
"Now, you Mr Alpha," I started, turning around to face my handsome lover, "Have a meeting to attend, am I right?" I asked, raising a shaped eyebrow.
Frantically, Zander scanned his eyes over his watch. "Shit, I'm late!" He exclaimed, placing a chaste kiss to my lips before he ran towards the door, grabbing his keys and launching himself outside.
I would have to find Logan, we could be lonely together.
