They all woke up in a room where they saw each other lying on different beds. The nurse released them from the infirmary as they went to their rooms. The instructors had given them the day off due to their ordeal the other day. "How did the demons get through the barriers? They are supposed to hold them off," said Ashish. "I have a feeling they will explain tomorrow," replied Chriss calmly. "They better, we were almost killed," growled Albert. "Does anyone know how we got saved? The demons just disappeared," asked Pristine. "I think they will tell us that tomorrow too," replied Vishor this time. As the day went by, the talking ceased and everyone retired to their room early in the evening.
The next day, the prodigies made their way to the meeting room as instructed and got seated. "I am sure all of you are wondering about what happened yesterday and why it happened. The answer is quite simple," a man said as he stepped out of the shadows. When the rest of the batch saw him, they all stood up in respect, all except Brett and Chriss. "Who is he?" "You idiot, it's the head of the academy. He is also on the council of Preachers. Get up," whispered Albert, trying to keep it discreet even though it was clearly audible due to the eerie silence in the room. "Come now, you don't have to treat me with so much respect," replied the man. "Nevertheless, let me treat you with some answers. First of all, the attack yesterday was planned, definitely planned. Someone first disabled the demon and vampire protection barrier and that's how we know the demons got in. Luckily one of the instructors ran to the control, with great difficulty and turned the demon protection back on. Luckily no major harm was done. Now comes the second point. There is a demon in this school, we don't know who, it might even be a vampire or there might be one of each, we aren't certain right now. I am only entrusting this information with you and a few of the trusted instructors. And the last thing, the demon and barrier protection has stopped working on the recent demons and vampires these days. They have found a way to cheat the protection. It could be anyone so I am asking you to be the lookouts." And with that he finished what he had to say and told us to go for training practice. On the way to practice Brett whispered to Chriss," I got a bad feeling about this." Chriss just replied with a nod. The jolly band of eight was now filled with silence and shock. "So this is what it means to be a preacher, to risk your life every day," thought Chriss. When they reached the grounds the instructors made them stand in line and made them warm up. Today's exercise was to learn how to run at 75 mph, in other words, faster than a cheetah. At the first attempt, they all failed miserably. The closest was a 68 mph by Vishor. With each attempt, they got better and better and by the end of the day they surprisingly surpassed the majestic predator. As the practice ended, everyone made their way to dinner, and the prodigies had started to talk again, "what do you think we will learn tomorrow," asked Ashish? "We'll have to see tomorrow," replied Pristine. "I just love this soup," said Chriss abruptly. "Is he always so random," complained Pristine. "Why, were you having a romantic moment with Ashish," smirked Albert. "YOU!!!!" Pristine stormed after Albert as he galloped away while everyone on the table was full of food..... and laughter. "I am exhausted for the day, I'm going straight to bed," announced Diana, as she headed for the exit door of the cafeteria. One by one, everyone eventually left, half-excited and half-scared of what tomorrow would bring.
