Sonic was alone in the orphanage. 'Blaze's Orphanage for Boys' to be precise. It wasn't any bullying, or neglect. Sonic just liked being in solitude a lot. It helped him think. It helped him cope with his parents deaths. Even after 13 years, he still remembered every detail.

(FLASHBACK)

Little 3 year old Sonic was in his booster seat in the car. Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog were driving home from birthday shopping for Sonic. His big sister, Sally was entertaining him with a pair of sock puppets. the land around them was being pummeled with hail. "Honey, do you think we should be driving in this kind of weather?" Mrs. Hedgehog asked her husband. "Don't worry, our house is only three minutes away." Mr. Hedgehog assured his wife. Suddenly, a large chunk of ice smashed through the car windshield and smashed into Mr. Hedgehog's head, killing him instantly. Mrs. Hedgehog screamed at the sight as the car lost control. It swerved and hit into a tree. A low hanging branch smashed through the windshield, and impaled her throat. "Mommy! Daddy!" Sally shrieked. She started to sob uncontrollably, screaming as loud as she could a few times. Soon the police came. They then took each other into the care of separate orphanages. That was the last Sonic ever saw his family.

(FLASHBACK END)

And today was the 13th anniversary of the incident. His birthday. And he was going to spend another year, waiting to be adopted. He let a few tears shed before composing himself.

A knock came at the door. "Come in." I called. The door opened and Ms. Blaze stepped in. "I just wanted to say happy birthday, Sonic. And I got you a little present." Blaze smiled. Sonic looked at Blaze with a curious expression on his face. Suddenly, a lovely looking couple stepped up. "Oh, he's even more darling than I expected!" the woman said. She stepped up to him, rubbing his cheek. "Don't you remember me?" she asked. "Umm... No. I can't say I do." I said. She started to laugh. "I'm your mother's best friend in College! I'm Amy! And this is my husband, Silver!" Amy laughed. Sonic liked them. Amy was ditzy and cute. Like mom. Silver was carefree, and had a good natured look in his eyes, like his father. "So, you're going to adopt me?" Sonic asked, his hopes rising. "Don't be silly, you should've been in our house ages ago! Let's go get you packed up!" Amy smiled. Overjoyed, I started packing as fast as I could.
