Layla's P.O.V.

It's been 3 days since the night Maya fell down to the basement. The doctors say she is lucky she didn't fall head first or trip and get her leg caught in the stairwell. Any other moves could've killed her.

Her left leg was horribly broken, and I feel like it's all my fault. I know I shouldn't blame myself but if me and Evie wouldn't've bored her to death we could've seen that she was sleep walking.

I haven't been able to eat more than once a day because if Maya can't eat niether should I.

Depression, anxiety, and anger filled Layla from the top of her head to the tip of her toes. She hasn't talked to anyone with the slightest exception of Evie.

Being as upset as she is, you would think she'd visit Maya in the hospital but no, she can't think about Maya without crying, let alone see her in pain like she is.

Her mother would have to wake her up in the middle of the night because she would scream and say "It should've been me" and "What happened? Is it my fault? I'm so sorry"

There have been a few days where I had to stay home from school because I couldn't go two minutes without breaking down like a weak little baby dropped on its head.

I've been a little better but still not as much as my mother would like.

She was cut of by a phone ringing violently.
Layla went to see who it is with her mopy body crawling across the floor.

[Mrs. Fletcher Cell calling]

She quickly picked up the phone to answer.

"How is she? Is she awake yet?" Layla was desperate for answers

"Don't get too excited, the doctors did some scanning and they found a fracture in her spine and she probably won't wake up for another couple days if.."
Sniffling through the phone Mrs. Fletcher continues...

"If not weeks"

A few weeks where I can't have my bestfriend? I can't do this for much longer, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. What if she doesn't wake up? No, she has to to and if she doesn't.. I can't do that, but I might have to...

"Oh my god, this is so horrible. How are you and Mr. Fletcher taking this?"
Fighting through tears and heartache Layla struggled to continue the conversation.

"Well I'm not too great but I'm going to have to keep a good mindset and believe she will make it."

Mrs. Fletcher tries to comfort Layla as much as possible but they both ended the conversation crying.
