Echo's POV
I stare at the clock and decide to get ready for the Barbeque at 3:30 so I have a half hour to kill. I decide to curl my hair and add make up first instead of waiting. I pull out a pair of jeans and a black tank top with a see through overshirt. I pull on my sneakers and I brush my teeth and I add my tea tree perfume and I add my glasses. I had to come to my auntie Margo and uncle Bill's Barbeque and I was ready to go by 4:30 we were leaving in 15 minutes I stare in the mirror at my ugly reflection. I see my long black hair curled down to my thighs and my brown eyes shimmering in the light and the thing I hated most about myself was my teeth smile. My lips covered in gloss I only had mascara on and I smelt of tea tree oil as always. I was excited because Elyh was gonna be there and in fact he was my foster mothers son and I had a little crush on him but every boy I've ever liked was only for one reason they weren't my everything they just looked good. I get in the car and I see Elyh on his phone as always his short brown hair just over his eyes his chocolate brown eyes half covered and his smile dazzling as always. He let me touch him like little things like maybe poking him and bugging or covering his eyes and making him guess who I was. He didn't mind I thought of him as a older brother but I liked his figure. His chest strong and firm his legs strong and swift. His arms bulging and his heart was as soft as a baby's bottom. I smile as I nudge his arm playfully as I blush I have a feeling he knows I like him I say in my head and as if to answer my question he winks making me blush even more. I sit beside him our arms touching. He texts away and I see her name Taylor and he smiles as his hands twitch at the speed of light to reply to her comments. I look out the window as I plug my iPhone 6 into my earbuds and I set it in my pocket and I blast "Strip That Down" and I hum to it and I see Journey my 13 year old friend she's also my one and only twin sister she's also my only friend at a school of 130 I smile as I see her identical long black hair and her eyes are green instead of brown her smile dazzling and she was a tad taller but she didn't pay attention to school as much as I did she was the pretty side of me. Her scent was cotton candy. She said "You excited?" "Sure" I mumble and I continue to stare out her window as she plays "Flip Diving" and her laugh beautiful but I was a better singer and I loved music she only listened to it during parties. We were opposites. I wore black she wore white. I feel a pang of jealousy hit me like a ton of bricks. Every boy likes her not me I say to myself and I see my young foster mother and my foster father gets in the driver side and says "Every one here?" "Yes" me and Journey say at the same time and our last name was a little embarrassing A Flood she got teased I got bullied and she got away with everything but I get in trouble for everything. I was a low life. I listen to music for a half hour until we finally got to Auntie Margo's and uncle Bill's house it was surrounded by bushes and its walls were white. As we stop I see a boy he had short black hair and he was tall maybe 5'9 or 5'10? He had light brown skin and light brown eyes he stood next to a man of similar appearance only taller and we stop as Shelby says "Ok we're here time to get out" I move up to the second row of seats after Charlie and Grayson Shelby's twins get out and I let Journey get out first and I see the tall boy look in our direction and his face looked at Journey in longing and he held a stare she smiled at him and he quickly looked away and she giggled I roll my eyes and I let Elyh out in front of me and I see the boy look back and I look at him and he looks at me in confusion and I say "What are you looking at?" Coldly and I walk to the house greeting Shelby's relatives and Bill said "It'll be a few hours yet" he was short and he had blonde hair and light blue eyes and his smile had pain in it. His wife Margo was tall and she had Brown hair and green eyes her smile pure happiness. They had 2 miscarriages and 2 kids Ryan and Ruth Shelby Hanson. I was the oldest as far as I knew. Elyh was a month younger and my sister was younger by 5 minutes. Ryan was 7 and Ruth was 4. Charlie and Grayson are 5. I sat down and I heard Margo say "My nephew Jacob is around here somewhere you might like him actually he likes to read and do math too." I smile at her and I pull out my earbuds as I see the tall boy staring at my sister in her white dress and her hair down loose her eyes covered in make up and her smile directed towards him. I listen to "Crazy for you" and I watch her sit beside him flirting and I see Elyh sit beside me and I feel my stomach flutter. I see chips come out and I grab a handful of Cheetos and I eat one by one. I look up and see Journey laughing with the boy that was probably Jacob and I look away. I slowly pull out my earbuds and I walk inside to see their "Rock Python" her name is Sally. I open the cage and I prop her on my arm and she slowly crawls around she sniffs me by sticking her tongue out near my skin and I put my phone away as I stare at the snake. She loved me I felt her grip slightly tighten around my arm. I smile as she slowly puts her head in my hand and rests. I was calm until I heard a husky voice say "You like Sally?" I look up and I see the boy that was flirting with Journey. His abs show through his shirt and his jeans a little loose but they fit. His smile mischievous and sexy his eyes staring at my arm and I say "Yeah i like her she's cool to hold" and she perks up hearing his voice and he says "Most people besides me and my dad don't touch her." "Well I actually love snakes" I say and I see him smile at me again and I blush a little and he says "So your not a princess like your sister?" "Nope I'm one of the guys" I reply and I slowly put her in the cage I walk to the washroom washing my hands and when I walk out I smell a mixture between smoke and cologne I feel my stomach flutter and I realize it's my new favourite smell. I walk to the living room and I plop down on the couch and I pull out my phone until I notice a boy sitting beside Sally's cage looking at me and I say "What?" "Nothing" the boy replies and I say "Is there something you wanna say?" "Yeah actually I'm Jacob and I'm 13 years old." "Cool I'm Echo and I'm 13 years old." He smiles and he says "So your going to Redwood Junior high?" "Yeah" I say and he says "Cool me too" "what home room you in?" He looks at me and says "3 18" "me too" I say and he smiles again and he says "When's your birthday?" "February 14th 2000" he smiles and said "Mine is January 2nd" "your older than Journey and I" "by a month" he says with a grin plastered on his face and I say "but I'm more mature" "Not a chance" he says smiling I get up and I grab a bowl of Cheetos and I sit back down. I take out my phone and I play Grand Theft Auto 5 and I see my level raised since last night and I am now on 217 online. I smile and I walk by a girl who says "Great News I'm Pregnant Again" and I take out a baseball bat and kill her. "Whore" I say aloud and I see Jacob raise an eyebrow at me and I say "GTA5" and he smiles as he says "Wanna play Video Games in my room?" I smile and I think for a moment until I say "Sure" I get up and I follow him to the room that smelt of smoke and cologne. I smile and I say "What game do you want me to win?" "Umm I'm gonna win" he says and I say "On what game?" "Mortal Combat DC Super Heroes" he says and I smirk because I remember that I'm the champion at this game he says "Ladies First" I look for my weapon and I see her "Katana" the robotic fight announcer says and I smile as he picks "Jade" and I raise an eyebrow and say "Jade?" "Well I know her moves like the back of my hand" he replies and we start I walk up to him and I throw my blades as I suspected he ducked and I tripped him and I transported behind him and I uppercut him and he kicked me making me fall and hit me with his blade weapon. I start to fight harder and I worry because he's the best opponent I've ever faced. After a few minutes it finally ended and the screen says "Katana Wins" I smirk at him and he says "I let you win" with a pouty face and I laugh "Why too prideful to lose?" He smirks and we play 12 more rounds and I win every single one of them and he finally says "Let's play a different game" I smile and I lay back on his blue blankets and I say "Ok choose a different game" he rustles around and when he finishes he says "Let's go" I look up and I groan the.one.game.im.terrible.at "Seriously?" "Yes" "I hate Halo" I say and he says "It's because you suck at it" he says sarcastically and I say "That's exactly why" I say and he says "you can't win all the time. He sets it up for free for all against 50 other people and we start to play.

After I finish my last fry I look at Jacob and he looks surprised at how I finished right before he did. I see Journey staring at Jacob and he winks at her and she giggles I get up and I grab a bottle of Pepsi and I throw my plate in the garbage and I decide to go for a walk I find the trail that leads to the top of the hill and I walk. 10 minutes later I get to the top and I plop down in the grass and I play "Strip that down" and I listen to the music. I breathe in and out as I just let my mind relax until a thought pops up in my head 'I wonder what Jacobs doing?' I stop myself immediately and I listen as the song fades and Sorry Not Sorry starts to play I smile as I hear a familiar voice say "I didn't take you as a fan of Demi Lovato." I look up and sure enough there's Jacob I smile and say "Well I didn't take you as a terrible video gamer so I guess we're both surprised." He laughs and sits down next to me and he says "Your sister is gonna be here in a few minutes" I look at him and I say "I know" "you do?" "Mmhmm she wouldn't hesitate to follow me and a boy going to the top of the hill alone together" I say as I smile at him. And he says "Does she like me?" I feel my heart going crazy until it finally creaks and it leaves a little piece of my heart lost. "Probably" I say and just as he was to reply my twin sister Journey came up her black hair shimmering and her smile beautiful as always and I feel something I've never felt for my sister Hate I hated her for being flawless, I hated her for being the one guys always wanted, I hated her for never hanging out with me during school, and most of all I hated her for being the one Jacob preferred. I look up at her and smile "Hey Journey" she smiles at me and starts to walk towards Jacob and I. I see Jacob out of the corner of my eye and he's staring at her longingly. She sits between me and Jacob and she says "What were you guys talking about?" "About how I kicked his butt playing every game he chose." Jacob looked at me and I said "Until dinner time anyways" I look away and I see a chipmunk run across the log and I sit up and I slowly walk towards it I pull a peanut out of my pocket and I gently set it down beside the log as I walk away and when I turn around I see Jacob sitting beside Journey and she was twirling her hair in her fingers smiling at him as he laughed at one of her jokes and I look away and say "I'm going back down and I'm going to help Shelby with the twins." And I start my way down the hill and I was fine until. I tripped on a rock and it scraped down my leg and I felt it run in maybe 2 centimetres? But I winced got up and went down my jeans were stained but only a little blood was visible through my jeans. I finally get down and I see the twins running around outside and I say "What are you guys playing?" "Tag" Charlie says and I say "Ok I'm it" and I chase the twins around until Grayson trips and he starts to cry "Echo can you help me to mum?" "For sure little guy" I pick him up and I plant a kiss on his cheek and I say "Shelby Grayson tripped and he needs you." I lay him on his mums lap and I go inside and sit on the couch as I listen to "2 Heads" and I play "Ant Smasher" imagining every single ant was Journey I had too much anger and I was singing as I always did when angry. When the song stopped I pull out my earbuds and I see Jacob and Journey looking at me sitting on the love seat and Jacob says "Your a great singer" I blush and I see a can of whip cream and I grab it as I sit back in my seat and I spray the delicious cream into my mouth and I see Jacob staring at me and I say "Thanks" half heartedly and he looks at me with concern and I look away as I get up and walk outside and sit beside Elyh on the swing and he says "What's wrong?" "Nothing I'm fine" "I heard you singing and you only sing so openly when your angry" "ok I scraped my leg coming down and it hurts" "let's go clean it out then" he leads me to the bathroom and he finds Journeys extra shorts in the van and he tosses gem to me and says "Go to the washroom and change into these." I obey and when I pull down my pants I see the cut 6 inches long and 2 centimetres deep I see blood drip to the ground and I pull the shorts up my waist and I walk out and I see Elyh with a first aid kit in his hand and he says "Sit on the towel on the couch" "ok" I walk to the couch and sit Elyh sits right beside me and lifts my leg up over his and he opens the first aid kit as he says "Ready?" "Yep" I say and I glance over at Jacob sitting away from Journey and looking at me. I see his eyes flicker to Elyhs hand now on my legs and he says "Do you need help?" "No" Elyh says and he puts a cleansing wipe to my cut and I wince a little. He smiles at me half heartedly before moving beside me and I look at him curiously and he says "To make sure you don't fall down" I elbow him after his joke and I look at Elyh he now has a band aid wrap and he starts to wrap it around my cut and he sticks it with a pin. I see my newly bandaged leg and I get up and walk outside and grab some chips before coming back in and I see Jacob and Elyh glaring at each other. I clear my throat capturing their attention and I sit beside Journey in the love seat. I then say "Who wants to play a game?" I see Jacobs expression soften and he says with a smirk "What Game?" "It's a super secret fun fun game" I reply I get up and I walk towards them and I whisper in Jacobs ear "It's called tag" I tap him and I run outside towards safety. I hear Elyh breathing behind me and he said "He almost got me" I see Jacob run out eyes trained on me and he starts to run. "You'll never catch me I won every single race in track and field since grade 3" "so did I" he replies I start to speed up and I continuously run and when he stops and catches his breath and I'm still energized I bolt uphill and I sit on top of the mini hill behind a truck. I stand there waiting and I see Jacob look up and smile I look around me and I see the only way out is the way I came. I panic as he walks towards me only 5 steps away I climb in the back of the broken truck and I crawl on the roof run down the hood and jump I land running and I head towards Elyh and I finally stop I'm sweating and Elyh says "Take it easy on your leg" as he says that my leg throbs and I wince a little as I walk towards the house and I hide instead of run I sit in the corner and I stay there motionless I see Jacob tag Elyh and run. I smile and I sit there waiting and Jacob notices my being gone and he looks around curiously and stops running long enough for Elyh to tag him. He grins as he tags his arm before he could get away and I slowly walk inside and sit on the couch and I text Journey
"What are they doing?"
"Being boys🙄"
"So they're only tagging each other?"
"Yep"
"Sounds like Elyh"
"Yeah"
"And Jacob"
"Do you think he likes me?"
"A little🤔"
"Really?!"
"Yeah"
"Should I ask him?"
"Go ahead"
"Thanks your the best sister I could ask for😌"

I look out the window and I see Jacob and Elyh tagging each other and Jacobs it and I see his eyes hook onto mine and he walks to the only entrance and the only exit. He smirks and I run to the kitchen and I crouch down behind the island. I hear him say "I've got you now" "do you really?" I reply and he says "yes" I bolt to the bathroom close the door and I open the window and crawl through and as I land on the ground I hear him open the door and he curses and says "I will tag you." With a frustrated tone. I giggle and I run off into the woods and I re open my bandage and the cut. I slip again on a log and I lay behind a bush groaning and I hold my leg trying to put pressure on my wound and right on cue Jacob said "I can hear you" I quiet down and I look at my leg covered in blood and I groan and he looks behind the bush his face goes white and he jumps back here and he says "Goddammit Echo be more careful" he takes off his shirt and I find it hard to concentrate and he wraps it around my leg and he carries me easily and he says "Your sitting down from now on" and he puts down on the couch again and he cleans my wound and wraps a bandage around my leg tighter this time. And I try to get up but he pushes me back. He gets up and goes to his room to get a new shirt I see his red shirt it used to be white I say to myself and I now I'm thirsty so I get up disobeying his order and I grab my bottle of pop from earlier I was about to sit before I see an angry Jacob staring at me and he says "I said to sit down" "sorry but I'm not sorry" he smiles a little and I say "As Demi Lovato quotes" I dab and I plop back onto the couch and I start to play Minecraft.
