"Hey, kitten, you're gonna need to get up sometime soon or else we'll die." A voice echoed in the back of your mind. Even though the voice sounded like faint distorted audio, something about it seemed too familiar for you to remember.

"Don't... call... me.... th-that..." you heard yourself say. Was that even you? Nothing in your mind wanted or even tried to say that yet- that was your voice. A raspy voice. Every syllable hurt your throat. Everything about you seemed... tired.

You opened your heavy eyes and scanned the blurry area, slowly regaining any memory of what had happened previously before you had passed out.

That's right, something had stabbed you in the right side of your head. The last thing you could remember was intense pain, and everything going black as you fell to the ground.

You inhaled a jagged breath only to cough up the oxygen your lungs never got the chance to absorb. Every bit of air you managed to breath in scraped your throat and your body forced it away without ever getting a chance to pump it through your vitals. Sluggishly moving your limbs, you positioned your arms so that your hands were under your chest. You tried to push yourself up, but fell down to the dirt not moments later. It was now light outside, and you could feel the hot sun beat against your back. Your hair felt hot. You tried to lift yourself up again and lost balance, but instead of falling back down you were able to flip yourself onto your back. Your pupils attempted to adjust to the sun right above your head and your eyelids forced themselves shut to avoid any damage to your retinas. Moving your bandaged hand above your head to block out the sun, you caught eye contact with a blue figure standing above you.

"We need to get you water, I can tell you're close to dying from dehydration." It said solemnly. By the pitch of voice, you could tell it was a male. You were gaining movement, but with that came the sore muscles. You could feel every inch of you ache. Liquid- blood? Blood pooled in the back of your throat, causing a suffocating feeling. Quickly rolling onto your side with a mix of gagging and coughing, your mouth stung with an iron flavor as blood pooled from your lips onto the dirt below you.

"(Y/n)? Are you alright?" The man said in a worried tone. Rolling back onto your back, you saw him reach a hand down towards you to help you up. You reached out to grab it but your hand seemed to go right through his and fell hard beside you, causing a small groan of pain come out of your chapped lips.

"Right.." he mumbled to himself. What had just happened? Did you die and were you some sort of ghost? Surely you were in too much pain to be dead. "Don't worry kitten. None of what just happened there has anything to do with you." He let out a sad chuckle "As of now I'm stuck in your head." He tapped the right side of his forehead. Your hand reached up and grazed the metal imbedded in your head that you had discovered before passing out. "There should be a machine around here that can take me out of your head and into my own body. I need you to get up and find it Kitten. After that I'll take care of the rest alright?" He crouched down towards you and got closer enough for you to see his face. Though he didn't seem to show any expression, he looked familiar.

You pursed your lips. You could tell from his expression that he understood you didn't want to speak much. The pain in your throat was too extreme. Forcing all of the energy in your body to your lower abdomen, you tried to pull yourself up using your arms as supports. About halfway up, a sharp pain hit you in your side. The feeling was similar to being stabbed. You screamed out in pain and quickly gripped the origin of pain as hard as you could. A broken rib possibly? It was hard to tell. You fell back on the ground and shifted your head around, looking for something you could grab onto to help you up. Not a couple meters just behind your head was a pile of metal scraps. Digging your fingers into the dirt, you pulled yourself back onto your stomach and began to pull yourself towards your aid. Everything in your body hurt, but in the back of your mind you knew you would die if you were to just lay down and do nothing. The man telling you what to do was you best hope for any type of help in your current situation. You wrapped your right hand around a metal pole sticking out of the pile, and slowly stared to put yourself up. You gritted your teeth in pain as you had to use your injured arm for assistance.

Soon enough you had made it onto your feet. The blue man gestured for you to follow him, and although your legs felt like they were going to collapse underneath you, you complied.

"Listen, (y/n)... I'm sor-"

"Who is (y/n)? And why do you keep calling me by that name?" You cut him off. You didn't know much about this man, but you did know that he either knew who you were or he had you mistaken for someone else. He stopped in his tracks and turned around slowly to look at you. You walked a bit closer to him, so you could at least see his facial expression and get a better look at who you were accompanying on this strange adventure.

"You're (y/n)." He stated. He must've picked up on your confusion. Alright. So at least now you knew what your own name was.

"(Y/n)." You repeated. It was a nice name for the most part, that much you could tell. "Who are you?" You asked, which seemed to upset him. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers and let out a small sigh.

"So, kitten, you don't know who I am and you don't know who you are?"

Kitten. Something about him calling you that made you a tiny bit irritated, but you shook it off and nodded as in agreement with what he had said.

"Do you remember anything?" He asked. You shook your head and for a moment you could almost see pity in his expression.

"I'm... Jack." He said with a light sigh. He was a bit hesitant, almost as if Jack wasn't his actual name. He turned back around and began to start walking again.

"The machine I was talking about isn't far from here." His head turned back so he could see your reaction. All you did was squint and nod slightly, limping behind him. He let out a small chuckle. "Can't see very well without your glasses huh?" He asked. We yes, now you knew two things about yourself. Your name was (y/n) and you wore glasses.

You couldn't see anything clearly. Since you apparently had glasses, but didn't have them with you, the world beyond four feet was unclear and blurry, lights, or lack there of, exaggerated. This might of well just have been a handicap. You couldn't see where you were going. There was so much junk on the ground, you were afraid of stepping on some sort of rusty nail or something. You shifted your head up towards Jack, something about him itched at the back of your mind, like you knew him. He was too far away for you to see anything else about him. All you could tell was that he was blue. Maybe some sort of alien?

After continuous moments of silence and roaming through the rubble of what seemed to be a broken building, you approached what seemed to be a sort of booth like machine. This must have been what Jack was talking about. He stood outside of the door and motioned for you to step inside. You did as he asked, and tugged at the heavy door, pulling it open. You put your bare foot on the cold metal on the inside of the machine and hesitantly stepped all the way in. He stood outside and you pulled the door closed, causing your surroundings to go pitch black. You felt around the walls of the tiny space, when your hand discovered what appeared to be some sort of control panel with one button. You pushed the button, and what seemed to be thousands of tiny lights lit up the inside of the machine. Startled by the sudden change of lighting, your eyes closed quick on instinct, and your body reacted with a slight jerk of panic. It caused you to fall down, and your head made harsh impact on the side of the control panel. The machine rattled and moved around you as you found it hard to keep your eyes open. Fading in and out of consciousness, the bright lights faded out and you were comforted by darkness. Leaning your head back on the wall, the door was thrown open, causing light to invade your eyes yet again. On the other side of the now opened door looked to what might have been Jack, but no longer coded in various hues of blue. He reached in and slid an arm around your back and another under your knees, and pulled you out. The sudden movements made you cry out in pain as you could feel your broken rib and aching muscles being disturbed from their resting.

"I know I know." He whispered. Holding you bridal style, your head fell against his chest as your body gave into the pain. You closed your eyes as reality seemed to melt away around you. Once more, you lost consciousness.
