Condor was a very vain animal. He was constantly cleaning his large feathered wings and preening himself. He loved to fly over the villages and look down on the people who dwelled there. He enjoyed seeing their astonished faces as they pointed up at him, and exclaimed with awe, delight, and wonder at his presence.

"Look! Condor has come!" The villagers would exclaim as he soared gracefully over the rooftops of their small communities.

The words and praise of the villagers soon went to Condor's head, and he would purposefully glide in the wind currents and perform aerial acrobatics when he knew he had an audience.

However, eventually the humans grew bored, as they so often do. They no longer gazed at the condor with admiration, and eventually ceased to look up at all. One day, when Condor was flying over a village, he heard the people vociferating about something... new. Something unique. Something special and different.

Condor, of course, did not take well to this. He drifted down and perched on a rooftop, watching the crowd below.

"Look at this bird! It's called a Toucan! Look at it's bright plumage! The detailed coloration! It's beautiful!" The villagers all cried out. Condor looked at his own monochromatic colors, and envy, rage, and self pity welled within him.

"I am the most beautiful! I can do tricks, and ride the wind like no other bird!" Condor muttered to himself. Then, he began to formulate a plan.

"Villagers!" He called, flying down to the village square where all the villagers stood, surrounding the circle. They grudgingly looked away from Toucan to look at Condor.

"This bird, Toucan, as you called him, has bright flashy colors, and very glossy feathers, but he can not ride the wind like I can. I could teach him."

"That sounds fun!" Toucan replied, so off they went. They flew away from the village, out to an open field. Once they were there, Condor began to fly in powerful circles around the Toucan, beating his powerful wings forcefully. Condor flew faster and faster and his circles became smaller and smaller around Toucan. Leaves and grasses began to blow, and soon a vortex of wind grew around Toucan, creating a long funnel of spinning wind. Condor flew out of the cloud of swirling wind, and watched as Toucan was swept up in it. Unexpectedly, the wind came down from the mountains and joined with Condor's wind, and it began to move. It moved toward the village. Toucan was flung out of it and out of sight. The newly formed wind that would come to be known as Tornado, moved toward the village and flattened everything in it's path. The village was ripped apart and flattened by the wind. The villagers realized what Condor had done. They became extremely angry. Condor, seeing all the destruction and sorrow he had caused was suddenly filled with remorse.

He flew away, and from then on, Condors have hardly been seen, and live away from people in remote areas of the world. Sometimes, one of Condor's descendants will fly just a little too hard too fast, and a tornado will sweep the land.

As for Toucan, he was swept far away to a rainforest jungle, and has lived there since, blending in among the vibrant foliage, and the trees provided a perfect place to live, blocked from the wind by the towering trees. He has lived there since that incident with Condor, and he is happy, and has no need of venturing out of the rainforest again.
