10 years later

"Welcome, all of you, to Norland Academy." A middle aged man announced from the stage. He wore a simple black suit, that complimented the dark bags under his twinkling azure eyes. The auditorium was filled with a sea of students, each waiting, eager to hear what he had to say. "You have gathered here today, as with your talent and aptitude, you wish to become contractors and contract partners. You wish to fight the forces that threaten all of our worlds. It has been 500 years since the human realm and the realms of the mythicals, collided. And now here we all are, standing in the first building built by the hands of the first contractor, Lady Norland. I trust each of you, with your talent, bravery and determination will become fantastic warriors. Each of you may walk a separate path, but here you come together under the banner of peace. I wish you each a bright shining future. And good luck for your first day." He ended, with an enigmatic smile, walking off the stage.

As the old man's speech concluded; some of the students began to file out, while others were standing around chatting among themselves. In particular there was one duo standing near the back of the room, that was drawing a bit of attention.

"Fantastic my ass. We're going to become the best. Right, Damien?" The girl said to her male companion. The girl wore the standard female uniform of the school: A white blazer and black pleated skirt, with a black shirt underneath. Her black shoes were simple in design, but still gave an air of class. She had her brown hair up in a high ponytail, while her cat-like crimson eyes watched the crowd with a predatory glint. Other than her light reddish-purple skin, the feature that drew the most attention, were the two black horns curling up from her forehead.

"We shouldn't get overconfident, Lily. There are bound to be someone who can give us an exciting fight." Her male companion wore a similar uniform, except he wore worn-out black Converse. His dirty blonde hair was short, with charcoal shaded tips, as if they had burned. His eyes were a dark emerald green, that gazed through the crowd with cold indifference. Over his left eye ran a scar; beginning at his eyebrow, and ending just below his upper cheek bone.

"You're too paranoid. We have trained for this forever. They won't know what hit them, as we dance gracefully through them, all the way to the top. It will be a cakewalk."

"That's just the problem. It will be too easy. You should know better than anyone, things that are easy come with a high pri—"

"A Devil?!" A boy ran up to the duo, interrupting Damien's thought. His dark amber eyes, hidden behind his steel-framed glasses, were glued to the devil girl, Lily. He looked her over as one would a new exotic species, "Devils are very rare contract partners, correct?"

"Uh, yea. I guess so?" Lily responded.

"That's so cool!" he squealed in excitement. "But the devils that do are normally war devils. And there aren't any female war devils to my knowledge. The only female devils that I have read about are su—"

"That's enough of that." Lily cut him off. Her eyes glaring at him, agitated. "What is your name?"

"Oh. I'm sorry. Did I forgot to introduce myself? I'm super sorry." He ran his hand through his chocolate brown hair. "My name is Blaise, it is really nice to meet you both."

"It's fine." Lily said, sighing in the process, "I am Lilysse, but I prefer Lily. This is Damian, my par... future partner."

"It's nice to meet you." Damien said with a small bow. "Lily we should be going. We have that one meeting to attend."

"Uh. yea. We probably should."

"Oh. Is that so. Okay. Maybe we can meet again. And you can tell me more about Devils, Lily." Blaise responded with a small smile upon his lips.

"Maybe." Lily responded as he began to walk away, following the current of the crowd.

"That was close, Lily. Remember, no one is allowed to know." Damien whispered.

"I know, just a slip of the tongue; now let's go to that meeting with the headmaster." Lily responded as the duo began to leave. "Did you notice his aura as well."

"Black like a window of obsidian." Damien replied.

"He may be interesting."

"Or dangerous."
