A Single Rose (Spoby)

Rose

I flickered my eyes open to the sound of a constant drip.
A bright light flashed in my eyes and I heard distant sounds before I came back to reality.

I felt a hand squeeze mine and my eyes jolted to see who it belonged to. I calmed down when I soon realised it belonged to. I began to panic when I saw his eyes were red as if he had been crying.

He knew I knew something was wrong and before I could come to any conclusions he began to speak. "There was a problem with his heart. There was nothing anyone could do to stop it. He died two minutes after the c-section. She is alright and is being looked over for any problems. They will bring her in at any minute." He said wiping a tear that had fallen down his face.

A steady stream of tears started rolling down my face and as they did he wiped each and every one off and soon enough there were no more tears to cry.

After a good fifteen minutes of us calming down a nurse came in holding our baby girl. And gave her right to me. I looked at her and she couldn't have looked anymore like toby and I equally. She had his eyes and my mouth and nose.

"She is perfectly healthy at 8 pounds 10 ounces." the nurse spoke quickly before leaving the room.

"Have you guys thought of names yet?" the nurse asked in a hushed tone trying not to wake her.

"Rose, I want to name her Rose" I said in a prominent voice. I looked over to toby and he just smiled. "Rose Mary Cavanaugh, Mary for her grandmother" I said assuring him.

"That's a beautiful name." the nurse said while writing it down. She handed us the papers and let us sign them.

My friends came in with all kinds of bags and sat down. "Well, you'll never have to worry about baby sitters." Hanna said jokingly.

I looked around and realised, these people have been through everything and for some reason decided to let me enjoy this crazy ride. I am so thankful for everything and I wouldn't change a thing knowing what I know now. This is my family and no matter what may happen, I will always love my family.

Oh my god. Its over. But don't worry this may be the end of Spencers story but its not the end of roses you will just have to wait and find out.
