A good question from a friend.
How should values be defined?
- Emotion?
- Perception?
- Subjective personal experience?
- Subjective collective experience?
- Historical-cultural?I will not going to tell every answer my friends had. But know, I'm surrounded with brainy people. Here's one of them...
"If the question is about how should values be defined?(one is still about to define), then the following choices are granted (but not accepted). Emotion, Perception, Subjective personal experience, Subjective collective experience are products of historical-cultural facet, if not subsumed. Thus, one can answer the question, basing from them and it means that if we maintain the question at hand to be properly debatable, then it means that values don't have any objective universal truth. Thus, value definitions are only products of different emotions, individual perceptions, so on and so forth. The definition of values, then vary from one culture to the other. No objective standard as to its definition.People are not supposed to define what values are. Values are not to be put in a mere definition basing from choices mentioned. People do not define values, but values define people. In that sense values are existing independently outside human perception, emotion, subjective personal experience, subjective collective experience, and outside culture. Values (not a definition) are objects (goal) of human feeling, perception, emotion, subjective personal experience, subjective collective experience, and culture. We don't manipulate values, we don't define them, we acquire them.
Lastly, how should values be defined? Values are of acquisitions rather than definitions. Thus, the question should be, how values are acquired?"
So, here's my five cents, lol. This what happens when you faced genius people and it seems your tongue was taped and you just simply went blank. Because they answered a chapter with everything in there. What I did is, I answered as simply as I could.
"If you act a certain way, you will get a certain response; there will be a guaranteed reflex action."
Everyone went quiet, LOOOLL.😆
Friend 2 asked, "What does it mean and relate to the question in the first place?" 😮
Me: Oh, it means I agree with you! 😊
Friend 3: Hahahahaha!!! Now, look who is genius among us? 😅😅
Friend 1: Seems, she didn't get what I meant and repeated the question again because I was sure, she thought I didn't get the question or heard it wrong. 😞😰
Friend 3: Laughed even more. And I was tempted to join her laughing. I really did my best to control myself. 😂
Me: I just summarized your answer in one sentence. 😎😆😂 I went blank and it seems I couldn't agree more with what you've said earlier. Just did the right thing. 😝😜
Everyone: 😂
I treasure every moment when I was with my friends. When we were together, we simply talk about issues in general and expect for a debate later. I just can't simply change them, or, how we feel our bond went it that way. That is why maybe, I'm their friend and they are my friends. Had my weekend treasurable. And I'm always thankful for it.
