Suddenly, Lockwood shoved me off him. I went sprawling to the ground. I looked up at him, hurt and confusion on my face. Then I realised Lockwood and kipps were fighting. All hurt forgotten, I climbed to my feet. Their rapiers were clashing, Kipps was growing weak. His fear showed in his face. Lockwood kept on going, strike after strike until he overpowered his opponent. "Now." He growled, voice taught with anger God, he's mad I thought
."You will never lay a finger on my girl again, understood?"Wait...... My girl? I wondered as he jabbed Kipps with his sword. Kipps said nothing. "UNDERSTOOD?" Yelled Lockwood.
"F-Fine" Kipps chocked. "Just leave me alone!"
"Tell Kat to let the other girl go" said Lockwood. Kipps brought out his walkie talkie and repeated the order to Kat. Seconds later Katie ran out of the bushes and joined me and Lockwood. "I am going to waslk away with these two" Lockwood told Kipps "And if I catch any of you following to get to Luce, then I will kill you" Lockwood grabbed my hand, gestured to Katie to follow and as one we turned on our heels and stalked off.
Lockwood hailed a taxi. "Where are we going?" I asked as Katie slid into the taxi.
"Home, where'd you think?" Lockwood said, dragging me into the taxi and shutting the door.
"W - Why?" I stuttered, unsure of what he had implied. "Katie too?"
"Good point" Lockwood said, turning to the driver. " can you take this young lady home please? We will walk back." He pulled me out of the taxi.
"See you" I said to Katie.
"Bye" she replied and with a wave, shut the door. The taxi sped off around the corner.
Lockwood put a hand on my shoulder. "Come on, you and I need to talk over a cuppa. Let's go to Joe's cafe on the way." I looked at him, he was smiling. Not the 100 gigawatt one you see in the papers, the handsome, shy one, just for me. My heart fluttered in my breast. "Come on then" I said and we started to walk.
