"Rise and shine, Vi. Nat will be here soon, and we have a long day ahead of us." I groaned in response to my uncle but kicked off my blankets and rolled out of bed anyway. I was so not a morning person. I got dressed in an all black uniform with the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on the arm, ran a brush through my long, dark brown hair, and proceeded to the kitchen, where Clint was sitting pouring a cup of coffee. "You want some?" I nodded and pulled a mug from the cabinet, placing it in front of my uncle. He was also wearing his uniform, although with him being an actual Avenger and not just an Agent or an A.I.T., his was a lot cooler than mine.
"So what are we even doing today?" I asked. He had told me that we needed to fly upstate to Headquarters for an important meeting but honestly, no one really ever told the sixteen-year-old with a made-up title what was going on. "I know we have to meet with Stark, but like, what about?"
He finished a sip of his coffee before responding, placing his mug on the table in front of him. I took the moment to take a sip of mine as well. "It's about the newest Avenger, Violette. And the impending war. And some crazy space guys who no one really wants to work with but we think they may be of help. Oh, and a neurosurgeon." He said all of this very matter-of-fact-like, as if that all made perfect sense together in the same statement.
"There's a new Avenger?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's some kid. From Queens, I think."
Wait a second. "Do you mean the Spider-Man? Like, from YouTube?"
Clint gave me an inquisitive look, followed by another sip of his coffee. "Yeah, that sounds about right. How did you know?"
"YouTube."
"Ah, I see," he responded sarcastically we both laughed but were interrupted by a coded knock at the door.
"Nat," we both said in unison, resulting in another round of laughter.
He got up and pulled the door open, revealing a very tall, very pretty woman with red hair in a very similar uniform to my own, except hers had a cool belt. "Hello, Clint."
"Natasha." They looked at each other very serious-like for a period of time that was almost uncomfortably long before bursting into laughter themselves and hugging like the best friends that they were. They pulled away and Clint proceeded to ask, "how is everything going?"
Natasha stiffened right up. "Things aren't great. That's why Stark called the meeting. We can talk more on the plane." She looked at me for the first time since arriving. "You ready to go, Indigo?" Ever since I became an A.I.T., Natasha had insisted on calling me Indigo. A play on words, she called it. It was really more of just a different color that slightly resembled that of my name. Either way, I liked it.
"Ready as I'll ever be."

After a brief car ride and a not-so-brief plane ride, the three of us exited the plane and entered the new Avengers Facility in upstate New York.
"We're a little bit behind schedule, but not late. Nearly everyone should already be in there, except I'm not expecting to see Thor right away. That asshole always likes to make an entrance." Natasha led Clint and I through the double doors and into the meeting room where at the head of the table sat Tony Stark, and along the sides of the table were some other familiar faces - Dr. Banner, Steve Rogers (who, might I add, looked absolutely incredible as usual), and a few other agents and "heroes". Just like Nat had expected, Thor wasn't there. Yet.
The three of us took seats at the long table, Natasha next to Banner and Clint next to Steve, and I sat on the opposite end with the other agents. "Where the hell is Thor," Stark said, more as a statement rather than a question. "That asshole always likes to make an entrance." Natasha laughed. Stark raised his eyebrows at her.
As if on cue, because of course it was on cue, because it was goddamn Thor, the double doors swung open and Thor waltzed in, his hair literally blowing behind him like a model in a shampoo commercial. "I have arrived, small humans." I giggled. He smiled at me. "This gathering of high importance may now begin."
Stark sighed but stood up. "Listen, I don't need this to take all day but it's not going to be a sh─Thor, will you please sit down, we all know you can twirl your hammer." I laughed again, and Thor smiled at me again. Stark glared at both of us, and Thor sat down. "Thank you. As I was saying, this isn't going to be a short meeting for most of you. I'll need to keep the Avengers longer than the agents. But anyway, this meeting is about adding new Avengers and for you to all meet the most recent addition. Any questions so far?"
"No."
"Thank you, Thor." Sarcastic. I literally could not keep my laughter in. This meeting was going nowhere. I loved Thor.
"You are very welcome, tiny man."
Stark talked a little bit about the newest addition - how the kid from Queens could scale walls and jump far and shoot webs from his hands, but I already knew all of that from YouTube. He also talked a bit about the others. The "space freaks" were just that - literal aliens who didn't really have super crazy powers, but they had a crystal, something the Avengers Initiative desperately needed. And then the neurosurgeon, who apparently could alter reality, and also had a crystal. The only thing I could think about was how I would never want a man who could alter reality touching my brain.
"Should we bring them in?" Natasha asked. Apparently I zoned out for a good amount of time because I had no idea they were even here.
"Pepper?" Stark called. A tall blonde in heels and a pantsuit marched in with her clipboard. "Can you bring them in? One representative from the space freaks. There's too many and frankly, some of them freak me out." She nodded, and left the room.
From the hall, I could hear Pepper's heels clicking, a "wow, cool!", and very loud bickering which I assumed was between the "space freaks", deciding on a representative. I also heard "I am NOT a raccoon" at one point, which honestly just made me laugh. The double doors reopened and my eyes fell first on the girl behind Pepper, who was very pretty, but had green skin. Definitely one of the space freaks. Next to her was a very tall man in a cape, with chiseled features and curly hair and piercing eyes - the neurosurgeon. And following up the back was a boy who looked just about my age. He had light brown curls and a soft, nervous smile, coffee-brown eyes that glittered with excitement, and, of course, a little spider pin on the collar of his jacket. The Spider-Man. From YouTube.
