LAURENS POV - 9:20am
I was packing away the rest of my things into my drawers. I had my outfit for work laid out on the bed.
I fed lulu and gave her a bath this morning. Bruno said he would keep an eye on her while I was at work.
I changed into my outfit. I decided to go for a grey jumper and a denim skirt paired with black tights and heeled black ankle boots.
I put on my favourite pieces of jewellery and decided to start to make my way to work.
When I went down the stairs I heard my phone buzz.
I checked it; it was Luke.
"Good morning. In the car now on my way to Portland. How are you?" -Luke
I looked at the text with confusion. I thought we were meant to be odd at each other.
"Morning. I'm good. Portland is so far from New York!" - me
"Yeah. I'll be hopping on my private jet once I reach my companies airport. Anyways, you going to work soon?" - Luke
I almost dropped my phone. Private jet? Did I read that right?! I re read the message. Yes I read that right.
"Yes. Heading out the door in a minute. My family are supposed to be coming to dinner tonight." - me
"Oh! I'm sure I'll get to meet your parents soon. Tell them I give them my greatest of greetings." -Luke
"Will do. Gotta go now. Will keep u updated if anything happens at work." - me
"Ok. Don't talk to Michelangelo. Text u later." -Luke
My first day at work alone.. surely Michelangelo will try something. I quickly brushed my hair one last time and left the building.

"Morning Lauren!" Sandra waved from her desk. "Morning, I got you a coffee while I was getting myself something." I smiled as I placed it on her desk.
"Oh! You didn't have to! Thank you darling!" She grinned as she sipped it. I smiled and nodded and proceeded to go towards the elevator but she called me back.
"Lauren! Luke called in this morning before he left, he told me to give you the keys to his office.. so here." she handed them to me with a smile. I looked at the keys. Luke was the owner of this whole company. And he's letting me go into his office by myself? How is this a thing?
"Eh, thank you Sandra." I smiled and took them off her. I went up to the floor. I started to unlock the door and I heard someones heels clacking towards me. It was Mckenzie.
"Lukes on a business trip. No ones allowed in his office." She said with a snobby look on her face. "Well he told Sandra I could go in. I dont know what else to tell you." I shrugged as I proceeded to unlock the door but she grabbed my wrist.
"You're not special, especially not to Luke. So don't think you are." She whispered in my face. She really gripped onto my wrist and I pulled back and rubbed it.
"I never said I was." I looked at her through fearful eyes as I tried to pretend like she didn't hurt my wrist; and my feelings.
"Good 'cause you're not." She said again then she purposely hit her shoulder into me as she walked past. I watched her retreating back then turned my attention back to the door. I read the sign, "Luke Smith."
I sighed as I unlocked the door and quickly closed it behind me. I don't know why but I felt like I was committing a crime. I turned on the lights and used the remote control to open the giant curtains to reveal the winter wonderland outside of the windows.
