The nurse led me to a room and knocked, she motioned me to go in.
"Hermoines Chase, right?" the doctor asked, not looking at me, but on his notepad.
I hesitated and replied, "Yes."
"I have a bad news and a good news, which one do you want to hear first?" Not the bad and good news game, I hate that.
"The... ummm... the good news first," I stuttered.
"Very well, your husband's operation was successful." the doctor leaned on his chair and clasp his hands together.
"And for the vad news," he started. He tensed up and pushed his glasses up on his nose.
I sat on the chair uncomfortably. I gulped. This didn't sound good. I took a deep breathe and look at the doctor.
"I am sorry Mrs. Chase, but your husband will not be able to move due to the the breakage of his neck. It was a bad one, but not bad enough to cause death."
I gasped. Tears started to roll out of my eyes. Not able to move?
"Doctor, then when will he recover then?" I tried to hid my sadness.
"That will depends on the patient. As he was not able to move a muscle, he still have feelings and the ability to hear," the doctor paused a little bit and continued, "Mrs. Chase, I am sorry. Don't be too stressed on yourself and talk to your family and friends."
I nodded slowly.
The doctor breathed and said, "You may go to room 168 to visit your husband now." He held out his hand towards the door. And I went out.
