Chapter 26: Homecoming

So when I wake up its already mid afternoon I gently slide out of bed trying not to wake up Siara .. I manage to get out of bed .. I slip on my sandals as I head downstairs to see if Chris came home by any chance last night ... to my surprise his keys are still missing from the key rack ...

hmmm, that's strange of him I think so I look out the kitchen window to see if his car is in the driveway and it's not...

so it looks like he didn't come home at all last night .. wonder where he could be.

as I head back upstairs I decide to call him..

after like 4 rings he finally picks up.

Yo.. whats wrong everything okay?

he says

yeah, everything's fine.. where are you? you didn't come home at all yesterday.

oh yeah, I was meaning to call you and tell you that I was going to be staying late possibly over night in the studio .. Trey called me last min wanting to work on a track for his new album soon.

oh when you left me and Siara took a nap and ended up falling asleep and when I woke up just now I went downstairs and checked to see if you came in by any chance and I saw your keys were still missing and your car wasn't in the driveway

yeah sorry about that babe I really meant to call you but I know you just got out the hospital and I didn't want to wake you and cause you any discomfort having to reach and grab your cell.

he says as I hear some female's voice in the background

so what are you doing now?

I ask as I sit back on my bed and Siara wakes and sits up and faces me as she rubs her eyes

right now I'm just here at Trey's chilling he's throwing a release party.

he says as he tells the female to go and he'll catch up with her later

who's that?

i ask

huh?.. oh no one important just looks like another female singer trying to chat with me about signing her on my label

oh.. okay well your daughter just woke up she wants to talk to you

I said as I pass Siara the phone

Hey babygirl

he says

hey, daddy! daddy, u didn't come home last night where did you go did you leave again ...

she says as she starts tearing up.

oh no Siara don't cry your father didn't leave he's just at a friends house right now come here

I said as she comes and sits next to me still on the phone with Chris

Babygirl calm down I didn't leave like your mother said I'm out at Uncle Trey's right now daddy had to work overnight that's all but I'll be home soon sweetie okay

he says

you promise?

she asks rubbing her eyes again

yes babygirl I promise if I don't you and mommy can come and get me personally

he says laughing

she says as she hands me back the phone
