"Ow! Jeez! Watch where your going, you ding dong!" I yelled after somebody who had ran into me, causing me to hit my head on a streetlight. They heard me but they just kept running. "What a jerk. People need to watch where their going. I hope that's my target," I angrily mumbled to myself. I was walking to go see my next client. It was a rather cloudy day in June City. It was going to rain, I knew that for sure.
I turned a corner and down an alleyway. It was a shortcut. I stopped walking when I heard sobbing. It sounded like a child. Curious, I followed the sound. The loud sobbing led me down another alleyway behind a dumpster. There lay what I had suspected it to be all along. He looked to be about ten. Poor thing seemed to be malnourished and badly in need of a bath. He lay on his side, his back facing me, now quiet. Concerned, I reached to check his pulse. The results are in, my ears hurt. Before I could even have my hand near his, he screamed. I jumped back in surprise.
At least he's alive, but now he won't calm down. I held my hands up in front of me, "Look, kid. Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. I thought you were dead. I was only concerned. Wanna candy bar?". I threw it in front of him. He hesitantly grabbed it, unwrapped it, and woofed it down. I had never seen someone eat so fast.
I sat down crisscrossed in front of him, "What's your name?". Still munching on his candy bar, "Gerrard.". "Where are your parents, Gerrard?". He shrugs, "Don't know. We got in a argument, and I came home from school the next day and they weren't there. I waited and waited. Some people came over to take me away and I ran. Got lost. Now here I am.". I hear someone yell from an apartment window above, "Hey! You! Your the "you know what" that I hired! Quit screwing around and get up here!".
I realized that we were behind the building my client lived in. "Hey, kid. Wanna come with me? Can't leave you here by yourself. I'll give you another candy bar.". He nods and follows me. I knock on the door. I can hear loud music and voices. I guy with a beer in his hand and cigarette in his mouth answers the door. I smile when really I'm disgusted on the inside, "Two addictions at once, aye.". The man slurs, "What?". "Oh nothing. Pay me no mind.". "Right. Who's the kid?". "Why, he's my little assassin in training of course.". Gerrard looks up at me confused. "I'll be needing the payment before the jobs done," I say holding up his wallet. "Hey! Give that back!" he lunges at me. I push him into his apartment, "Wait outside, Gerrard." He nods.
I close the door. Apparently there's a party going on. The people around didn't pay any mind, though. I picked the guy up and dragged him by his shirt. I threw him into what looked to be a guest room. There was a loud thump as he hit his head on the floor. "Ow! What are you doing? That hurt!" I shut the door behind me and turned to face him, "Quiet! Now, what is your name?". He sits up, holding out his hand with a smile, "I'm Ron. Nice to meet you beautiful.". This man disgust me, "Well, Ron, we have a problem.". I say putting my silencer on my gun, he stopped smiling, "What do you mean?". I aim at him, "I don't like your tongue.". He puts his hands in front of him and shakes them, "No. No. No, plea- I pulled the trigger.
"I have anger issues," I say to myself. I just left the body there. Nobody will know it was me. When I walked through the front door, Gerrard was sitting against the wall beside the door. I beckoned him to follow. He nodded and started walking with me. "Is this kidnapping?" I thought to myself, "No. He needed a home. You can't just pluck a kid off the street.". I thought about that for a couple seconds, "Watch me.".
