FORGING AHEAD – Lineal Pastures

Timeless

Lilith is outraged as she watches the man bring the children to safety. "Someone is always helping those kids!"

"Stay away from them, Lilith," Zacheus tried to sound as menacing as he could under the circumstances.

"You're hardly in a position to give orders!" Lilith laughed over her shoulder as she began to glide toward the cabin and the children.

Zacheus again yelled, "Stop!" his eyes flashing yellow. Lilith quickly turned to him, "Really, Zacheus? You're willing to sacrifice yourself for them?"

Lilith reared toward Zacheus, fire shooting from her mouth. Zacheus twisted to avoid the flames, then closed his eyes and bowed his head. He opened his eyes just enough to see Lilith turn her head toward him, and slowly open them all the way. They flashed fluorescent yellow but instead of focusing on Lilith, his stare remained on the ground. A great whirlpool of sand rose from the ground and began to overtake Lilith. When she realized what was happening, her shrieks filled the air, "Why? Why are you betraying us? What is to become of us! Don't do this! They are only human!" Her cries dissipated into the swirling sand that was disintegrating her. When all signs of Lilith had faded away, the storm stopped and the vines fell away from Zacheus.
