It was the end of august which meant Harry's two sons would be going to Hogwarts in a couple days time. His youngest son, for the first time.
It was pouring rain as he sat in the living room reading the news paper. Naturally, his least favorite reporter Rita skeeter was making rumors about him. He'd have to set the record straight when he went back to work.
He sighed and checked the time. 4:40 in the afternoon.
Today was one of his precious days off and he was bored.
He got up just as Ginny was coming down stairs.
"Hey love." She said. She'd cut her long hair into a pixie recently. But harry had to admit it looked good on her.
He smiled as she put herself into his arms. He felt her hair. It was silky and smooth.
Ginny laughed at his touch. "Can't get over it can you?"
"Well it's different." He said, "It looks good though."
"Better than you thought it would?"
"I never said it would look bad!" Harry protested.
Ginny laughed again and kissed him.
She removed herself from him and they held hands as they moved toward the front door. "I need to get the mail." Said Ginny.
"In this rain? Can't you wait until it's over."
"Harry, rain isn't going to kill me."
Harry nodded and made a "go on" gesture.
Ginny smirked and rolled her eyes and opened the front door.
"Hey what's that girl doing out here in this weather?" Asked Ginny.
Harry walked onto the front porch and looked where she was pointing, and sure enough there was a girl maybe still in her teens. Wandering down their street, stopping ever so often as if she was watching for Something. She didn't seem to be wearing any rain gear which concerned him.
"Hey!" Ginny shouted to the girl. "Miss!"
Ginny started running toward her. Harry, after making sure it didn't lock, shut the door and followed. Both getting incredibly wet.
"Hey! Miss!" Harry shouted too.
The girl, looked wide-eyed and warily came over to them.
"What are you doing out her in this rain?" Asked Ginny to the girl.
"I don't know." Said the girl.
Harry with a jolt realized this girl was an American, with a slight southern accent.
"You don't know?" Asked Harry. "Do you know where you are right now?"
The girl shook her head. "Somewhere not in America I guess."
"You're in little winging." Said Ginny. In the U.K.."
"Ah I see." Said the girl as if satisfied.
The rain had calmed down to a drizzle. Although it was colder than it should have been.
"What's your name?" Asked Harry.
Up until this point she'd never really looked harry in the face. But when she did look at him she gasped.
"Are you a family member of Percy Jackson?"
Harry and Ginny both looked at each other in confusion.
"No" said Harry. "But she has a brother named Percy." He gestured toward Ginny.
"Who's Percy Jackson?" Ginny asked curiously.
The girl shook her head. "He's my friend. A really great guy. Oh and my name is Heather!"
"Well if he isn't from the U.K. I doubt he's any relative of mine." Chuckled Harry.
"No." Heather sighed. "He's from New York."
"You have a beautiful name dear." Said Ginny.
Heather looked at her with that same weary look she'd given them when they'd first called out to her.
"Thanks." She said cautiously.
Harry began to suspect that heather has been through some stuff and decided to show her, he and Ginny were not to be feared.
"Do you have a place to stay heather?" He asked her.
Heather stayed silent, she studied Harry as if trying to decide if they were good people.
Finally after a few more seconds of uncomfortable studying, she shook her head.
"Like I said." Heather said. "I don't know how I got here. I woke up just a few streets from here in someone's backyard. Luckily they weren't home."
"So you don't?" Asked Ginny gently touching her shoulder.
Heather winced. "No I don't."
By now the rain had stopped completely. And the sun was peeking through the clouds.
Harry and Ginny traded looks. Then looked back to heather. Who was still looking at them with caution.
"Heather." Said Harry. "I'm not going to lie. I feel like you been through quite a lot. Let's us help you get back on your feet. Do you remember where you live?"
"I live in Texas during the school year. Then in the summer I go to camp half blood." She said.
Harry was taken aback. "Camp half blood?"
Was that a camp only for half blood wizards?
"Yeah." Said heather. "It's the only safe place for people like me."
"People like you?" Asked Ginny. "Are you a witch?"
"What?" Heather asked offended. "No! My father is the god Apollo, And I have a human mother named Mary. I'm a half blood."
So this girl was either telling the truth or she was delusional. Harry guessed delusional.
"So your mother and god got together and had you?" Asked Ginny.
"Unfortunately." Heather said as if depressed.
"We can talk more about this later." Harry suggested. "Let's get some dry clothes on."
"Yes." Said Ginny kindly. "We'll get you into more comfortable clothing." She took Heather by the hand and together the walked beside Harry.
He couldn't help but notice Heather still looked weary and uncomfortable, but he decided not to bring it up.
