Percy Jackson has been in the Demigod world since he was twelve. He'd been in several battles and lost many friends.
Hell he'd even been to Tartarus and back.
Heather Gomez was a friend of his since he was thirteen. She's been missing for three weeks now and the satyrs have looked all across the USA.
Percy even called Mrs.Gomez and asked her if she had maybe, gone back home. Unfortunately she hadn't.
Percy remembered the conversation with Mrs.Gomez It wasn't a pleasant one. The poor mother was sobbing. So upset she could hardly speak.
Percy reassured her they were doing whatever they could to get Heather back.
Eventually he gave Mrs.Gomez his mothers phone number, because Sally Jackson knew what it was like to have a child go missing, and he hoped she could comfort the grieving mother better than him.
"Percy?" Asked Annabeth softly, appearing beside him.
"Chiron wants to talk to you in the big house."
Percy was in the stables feeding blackjack, his favorite Pegasus, Sugar cubes at camp half blood.
Percy nodded. He'd been searching for Heather since she disappeared from her bunk. He was still mystified as to how she'd gone without anyone noticing. Especially the cleaning Harpies. Who ate anyone who broke curfew. He cringed at the thought.
He'd almost been eaten when he was thirteen.
"Percy?" Annabeth said softly.
Percy shook his head. "Right behind you."
He took her hand and together they made their way to the big house.
They met Chiron on the wraparound porch. Who was in his wheelchair form. Chiron was a Centaur, from the waist down he was a white stallion from the waist up he was a middle aged man with a shaggy brown beard and brown hair.
But sometimes he was in a wheelchair. Which really was a magical box that could fit his entire back body, and was concealed by the mist to make it look like a wheelchair.
"Hello Percy." Said Chiron. "Are you still looking for our lost camper?"
Percy nodded. "Yes sir."
"Very valiant of you." Chiron smiled. "it's time to take a rest. It's the beginning of the school year. Why don't you go to college and-"
Percy looked past him into the strawberry fields.
"Sir, I know she's not dead-"
"But she's nowhere in America." Chiron interrupted.
Percy stared at him. "What do you mean?"
"Percy." Annabeth said gently. "Every Satyr has been all over the US looking for her. We even contacted the romans and they looked too. She's simply disappeared."
Percy let this sink in. The last time someone had disappeared was because a huge prophecy was being unveiled. He should know, he'd caused one of the most dangerous creatures to wake.
"You don't think it's like last time right?" Asked Percy.
Chiron scratched his beard. "No. Rachel Elizabeth Dare hasn't made any world changing prophecies."
"The point is." Said Annabeth. "There's nothing we can do for her right now."
Percy was conflicted. He knew she was probably right, but he didn't want to stop searching.
"You said she's nowhere in America right?" He asked Chiron.
"Well yes." Said Chiron uncomfortably.
"So what if she's in another country?"
"That's my theory." said Chiron. "Whoever took her, put her somewhere they knew we wouldn't look."
"Great." Said Percy, she could be anywhere in the world right now, literally."
"Percy." Said Annabeth impatiently. "You need to stop searching for her."
"Why?" Percy asked angrily. "Why do you want me to stop searching for her? You think I have feelings for her? Because I don't! You act like his every time you feel threatened by another girl. And really it's getting old. I don't have feelings for Heather. I love you. Only you."
"I know you do, Percy." Said annabeth angrily. "I wanted you to stop because you're not sleeping and you're barely eating. I worried about you!"
Percy stayed silent. He felt guilty. Honestly, he didn't know where those words came from. But he supposed they had to have come from somewhere.
He sighed. "I'll stop searching under one condition."
Chiron and Annabeth looked at each other warily.
"What is it Percy?" Chiron asked cautiously.
"As soon as somebody has her in their sights." Said Percy. "I want to know immediately. I want to be the one to go get her."
"And bring her back to camp half blood?" Asked Annabeth.
Percy nodded.
Percy looked at her. He knew she was upset with him for the words he used. But he'd have to make it up to her later.
Annabeth looked back at him, with her stormy gray eyes. Finally she nodded.
"Alright Percy." She sighed. "And for the record, she's my friend too, in case you've forgotten."
"We'll let you know as soon as she is found." Said Chiron speaking up. "But for now. You need to get packed to leave tomorrow to go to college."
Percy nodded. "Alright."
Percy and Annabeth made their way to his cabin.
He put a hand on her shoulder to stop her a few feet from it.
"Annabeth." He started.
She put her hand up. "Percy, I never thought you were falling for her. I certainly never felt threatened by her. I know you love me. I know she never had any feelings for you. Heather just looks up to you. In a big way I never saw your relationship with her as nothing more than a friendship."
"So you're not mad?"
"I'm really mad seaweed brain." Said Annabeth wrapping her arms around his neck. "I'll get over it." She kissed him.
The next morning, he and Annabeth left for college together.
Hopefully we can still enroll. Percy thought.
