Darkness faded into light as I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was bright white light.
Is this heaven? I wondered while I looked around. Beeping machines displaying my heartbeat slowly came into view. I was in a hospital bed, I realized with relief. I looked to my left and saw my mom's worried face looking over me.
"How long have I been here?" I asked curious.
Relief crossed my mom's face, "One day," she said, "I brought you in yesterday."
Good, I thought, I haven't been here to long...
I tried to recall what had happened yesterday. I remembered something eating away at the inside of my stomach. I wondered if I had had some sort of parasite.
"Hey mom?" I said slowly.
"Yes, honey?" she replied.
"What happened?"
"I don't know, the docters didn't find anything wrong, apparently it just stopped at midnight, and if they did find something they wouldn't tell me."
"Strange."
"You should probably get some rest, you can't leave here until two."
"But I feel perfectly fine!" I said.
"Just go to sleep."
I rolled over in the somewhat uncomfortable hospital bed, so my mom couldn't see my face. I lay, awake, thinking about what had happened the day before. Something had been eating at my stomach, but it stopped at midnight. Something was very off about this, I and intended on finding out what it was.
