Chapter 1~ Day 1

Violet's POV

I was in my room sitting at the table when mother called.

"Children" her voice echoed through the mansion. My family has lived in this house for over a hundred years and nobody dared move away. As you might have guess our house is what most people would think of as creepy, but it doesn't matter to me. I stood up and made my way down the hall towards the living room. My room is the attic so when I got to the living room, the twins and Johnny were already there. I took my place behind the twins while Johnny stood by my side.

My name is Violet and I'm 15 years of age while the twins are both 12 years old. There is Athena and Minerva, our mother loved Greek and Roman mythology. Johnny is the youngest of us, and he is 10. Mother is old fashioned so our house has no electronics, but our library is one of the largest in the world, mostly because we have some of the oldest books known to man. No one but us and our parents live here. We are of what's left of the Montgomery legacy. Our house is quite large, it's four stories. The attic is the fourth story so my room is the largest in the house. My sisters, the twins, share a room that is on the third floor. Johnny has a room on the second floor and my parents have a room on the main floor. The kitchen is the only place in the house that has electronics in the house besides the lighting throughout the house and of course the outlets. There are only the necessities like a fridge, a stove, an oven, a toaster, a blender, and a microwave. Then of course the plates and cups and such. My siblings and I are home schooled and we almost never go outside so we are all very pale. We have a garden that thrives beautifully but I'm the one that takes care of it. My family also wears nothing but black and white but mostly black. We are strange I admit that but this is our normal, just like for some people going to school is normal. Like normal kids though, we hide things from our parents, just not the same things. The twins, Johnny, and I have powers. The twins have the same powers of teleportation, Johnny controls the element of ice but I have a unique power. I guess you can say I copy them. I take their power and can use it too. They keep their power but it's like they show me how I can do the same thing as them. So I can teleport and control ice. All I have to do is be near them for a few moments then I can use it on my own. And no, I don't have to be near them when I use the power I just have to be near them once and, bam, I have their power. Strange I know and I only found out after the twins were born. I was angry because my experiment went wrong and I needed to blow off some steam. I ran into the twin's room and I sat down with them. I talked to them and soon it was nightfall. I didn't want to get up and go to my room. I thought about my room and warm bed and before I knew it I was laying on my covers on my bed. I freaked out the next morning because I was too tired that night and kept it a secret of course. The twins also started popping up in places and I did my best to keep it hidden. Then when Johnny was born it got creepy. I was feeding Johnny some apple sauce when it suddenly froze. I had put it in Johnny's mouth but he seemed unaffected by it. I lifted my hand and saw snowflakes drift down from the ceiling.

Over the years the four of us have learned to control our abilities and we used it to help around the house. Johnny helped in the summer by keeping us cool and making ice for our drinks. He hates the summer and mostly stays inside for the full day, not that we ever go out anyway. I also help with that. The twins use their ability to get out- of -reach things and they also explore the house a lot and go into locked rooms. I usually go into the room that was behind my room. It had a single large window with a balcony and it has a door but the door was so rusted that it seemed fused with the frame. I used that as my art room where I kept all my drawing out of reach from the others.

Anyways, back to my mother and us in the living room. We sat patiently as she looked at each of us individually. Her sharp gaze finally fell on me.
