Wayo slurped loudly and Ming gritted his teeth at the unpleasant sound.

"Can you not?" he asked and Wayo smiled mischievously at him.

"Aren't I the one with the bad morning temper?" he mused and Ming just growled at him.

"Well, I have to get up extra early to make sure you even get out of bed! I got home at 4 last night" the alpha groaned and rubbed his temples before looking up at his friend.

"No one told you to do that, I could take a cab you know..." Wayo glowered back and Ming let out a noise close to that of a dying rhino before slumping down on the table.

"There there big strong alpha" Wayo said while petting his friend's hair and Ming relaxed under his fingers.

"Amazing..." Ming hummed and leaned into the omega's touch. Wayo didn't answer but continued to rub little circles on Ming's scalp. They had been taught that their second genders didn't matter, that being omega or beta didn't actually do anything to an alpha. That alphas didn't feel any different for the other second genders, but as they had grown up very close to each other, they knew it wasn't true, at least not for them. Wayo remembered the first time he had scented the room during sleep as a new omega and woken up by Ming surrounding him and rubbing his face against his scent glands. He'd been afraid, but Ming had just whined and held him close before falling asleep. They were only 13 at the time and Wayo's lips turned into a little smile remembering the now fond memory. Since then, they often slept together as Ming felt more relaxed and Wayo felt safe with his friend so close.

"And still..." Wayo said in a low tone before drawing his hand back.

Ming raised himself and tucked into his food. "Yeah, no, your omega only makes me very sleepy" Ming said with his mouth full and swallowed. This, wasn't strictly speaking true, Ming had in fact been carrying a torch for his omega friend but he had given that up since Wayo insisted on being utterly smitten by the older alpha Phana. But he didn't want him to feel guilty so he never said anything on the matter, he just treasured the time they had together and went through girl friends like Wayo went through manga novels, very quickly and always with a bitter aftertaste soon chasing for the next fix.

Wayo pursed his lips not believing Ming in the slightest, not that he thought he was in love with him, but he'd felt Ming poke him in the back with something hard enough times to know that Ming wasn't as uninterested in him or boys in general as he let on.

"You think Pha is alright?" Wayo said and Ming rolled his eyes. There it was, the annoying person who made sure he and the darling omega in front of him would never be anything more than friends.

"I'm sure he's fine" he said with bitterness and finished off the last scraps on his plate.

"But I haven't seen him in days" the smitten omega mumbled and looked around as if Pha would suddenly appear.

"For fuck sake ai'Yo, isn't it enough we eat here where you know he eats? PLEASE, just one day, actually, just one meal without you talking about him would be nice" Ming snorted and got up urging Wayo to do the same.

"Sorry..." Wayo grabbed his backpack and got up "You really are grumpy today..." Wayo smiled at Ming and the taller alpha smiled back. "I guess I am". They continued to the car and as soon they were inside Wayo scratched at his upper arm.

"Honestly, why are you insisting on that blocker?" Ming asked with raised eyebrows as he started the car and turned out of the driveway.

"I just... You know why..."

Ming sighed. Wayo was under the impression that his omega scent DID things to the alphas around him. And sure, it was true, he smelled utterly delicious, but it didn't help that the omega was unknowingly gorgeous and completely fun to be around.

"They still look at you you know" Ming said in a matter of fact tone.

"They are probably looking at you..." Wayo said while continuing to scratch at the scent-blocker.

"Yeah all the alphas staring at you at breakfast just now was interested in me" Ming gruffed and pushed down on the gas pedal pushing them into their seats as they propelled forward towards the school building where they were training for the Moons and Stars competition.
