Nathan woke me up by slapping me in the face. I groaned and opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a fuming, red faced Nathan. "What's wrong, babe," I hoarsely asked.

"That motherfucker wasn't at school today. He disappeared in the middle of class. Was he here today?" He yelled the last sentence, spit flying everywhere.

"No, babe. I've been asleep all day. I can't even get out of bed." I tried to sit up to prove to him. I ended up crying out in pain and laying back down. I took a deep breath, calming down my racing heart.

"He better fucking not be. If I found out he's been here, you're dead." He looked over at the nightstand and his face softened. "You didn't eat your sandwiches?"

"I told you, honey. I've been asleep all day," I gave him a small smile and yawned. He kissed me on the head and left the room, shutting the door. My heart fluttered.

I grabbed the comforter and pulled it closer. Something brushed up against my side. I lifted the comforter up and saw a small black bag laying by me. I grabbed it and looked inside. A few pill bottles lay inside with a folded up piece of paper. I grabbed the paper and unfolded it. I smiled at what it read.

I figured you'd want something to help with the pain. You were sleeping so soundly I didn't want to wake you. I hope you aren't hurting much when you wake up. Call me if you need anything.

My heart swelled, I really wanted to hang out with him again. I looked at the sandwiches on the table side and my mind started running with thoughts.

A few days past, I lay in bed trying to recover. Nathan would redress my bandages, feed me, and bathe me. He would be even rougher this time, wanting me to know he's in control. That I shouldn't think or even talk about Gavin. Which I knew in the first place was a bad idea.

Nathan kissed me on the head and left for school, locking the bedroom door as he left. I let out a relieved sigh and grabbed my phone out of the side table. Gavin texted me, telling me to have a good day and to get some rest. I honestly wanted to see him again.

I grabbed the side of the bed and slowly sat up, ignoring the agonizing pain my body was still in. I wedged my hand in between the mattresses and grabbed the pill bottles that Gavin had given me. I dry swallowed a couple and took a deep breath. Nathan did a shitty job of redressing my bandages so it was always up to me to make sure they were right.

Since Nathan couldn't know that Gavin helped me, he had to use bandages. They were definitely more secure than what Nathan would do and helped a ton. I lifted my shirt above my head, pain flaring up again. I took a few shaky breaths and redid what Nathan did.

I caught hold of the door handle, shaking and breathing shakily. The door was locked, I forgot. "Fuck," I muttered, struggling with the lock. Of course. It was locked from the outside. I struggled to sit on the floor, fumbling for my phone in my pocket. I punched Gavin's number in and called him.

He picked up after two rings. "What's up?" his voice was cheerful. I could hear the kids in the background, he was already at school. I was struggling to speak again, my lung screaming for oxygen. "Are you okay?" his voice changed to worry.

"I.. I just...," I coughed, trying to spit out what I wanted to say. "I just.. wanted to see if you wanted to hang out," I let out a strangled laugh. It hurt, I coughed. Fucking kick in, pills.

He laughed. "You always choose the worst time to call me." A pause. "Hold on. He's watching me."

My phone dinged. I looked at it, Nathan text me. 'U awake babe'

"He text me," I whispered.

'About to go back to bed, honey. I just got done eating the food you made me. Goodnight, love.'

A relieved sigh. "He went to class."

"So? You coming over? I need help unlocking my door, too."

"He didn't."

"He did."

"I'll be there in fifteen. Make sure you have a bra on this time." Click.
