As much as I wish it weren't, this one is rooted in a true experience. I'm always open to feedback to help me progress. Enjoy!

A Heart’s Song

 I still remember that day.

Why I thought you’d always stay,

I can’t be sure.

Your life was so beautiful, so pure.

I remember how I cried and swore

And screamed like I never had before.

I remember them saying,

“He spoke of your beautiful voice.”

Words that would normally make me rejoice.

But after you’re gone the regrets filter through,

And I’ll always hate that I rarely sang to you.

Now I sing songs in the sun, in the rain.

By singing those songs I channel the pain.

Instead of destructing as you’d hate to see,

I sing with the passion you gifted to me.

So thank you for always reminding me,

Of the beautiful person I’m able to be.
