"Kate, please! Just tell me what I did wrong!", Alex begged as he ran after his, now ex, girlfriend.
"You did nothing wrong, Alex. I just... There's someone else.", she bit her lip, rubbing the back of her neck nervously.
"Wait... Did you cheat on me?", he panicked.
"What?! Of course not! That's why I'm breaking up with you! I want this to end, before I lose control and actually cheat. I'm no cheater and you know that.", she replied, obviously offended.
"Give me one more chance. Please.", he looked at her pleadingly.
"No, Alex! We're done.", she said stubbornly and walked away.
Alex looked down and ran his hand through his hair. How could she leave him? She didn't even tell him what was wrong in their relationship. They had been dating for a good two years and he couldn't stand the thought of going on without her. He was too dependent and he always knew this would end bad, but he couldn't help it.
He wanted to win her back. He loved her. Kate might have been ready to give up on them, but he wasn't.
She avoided him for the rest of the day. After school, he rushed home and got to work. He had an idea.
He was going to write her seven songs and sing one for her every day for a week. If she gave up on him even after that, well... At least he would have tried. He would know for sure that she had really moved on and there was no hope for them anymore.
It took him three days to finish. It usually took him longer for only one song, but he was determined.
On Sunday evening, he was under her balcony.

"Kate?", he called awkwardly.
Nothing happened, so he called her again. A few moments later, she came out.
"Alex? What are you doing here?", she asked him. She sounded annoyed and definitely didn't seem happy to see him.
"I- It's better if I just sing it for you.", he bit his lip and started playing his guitar nervously.
Alex took a deep breath and started singing.
He reminded her of how they met and the first thing she ever told him. He sang of the day they met each other's friends and the day they started hanging out with each other. He thought that she would at least tear up, but Kate Baker just yawned.
"Are you done? I've got work to do.", she rolled her eyes.
"Kate! Why are you so rude? He wrote an entire song for you.", a second girl said. Alex hadn't noticed Kate's, by one year, younger sister.
He had met Beth Baker before, since he was dating her sister, but they hadn't spent much time together. She seemed to be a really nice person, but they were nothing more than acquaintances.
She had dyed her hair lilac a couple of years back, because her natural color was black and she thought that "it was a little too dark" and that "she needed more color in her life". It suited her well, though.
"Whatever, Beth... That's not my fault. I told him it was over, he didn't listen.", Kate shrugged.
"Well, I think it was nice of him. Pretty cute too.", her sister smiled.
