Once there was a land full of shadows,
That moved and writhed like a living being.
One shadow broke away from the creeping massAnd became a boy, who ran and danced and loved,
And made his way amongst the world,
Until he stood at its highest peak,
Without hesitation he leaptAnd flew as the sparrow does,
Coasting on invisible winds and
Delicate wings, in ups and downs,
Like wavesAnd the water crashed upon the shore,
Pebbles rolling, turning to sand,
The ocean marking the passage of time
Until the rocks crumbled with a whisperAnd disappeared in to the earth,where
Rain trickles down to rock and through,
To caves where silence rules,And roots tangle, clawing down or
Maybe up, breaking the surface, where
Trees sigh softly in the wind,
Gentle as a distant song,And mixes with the drone of insects,
Who bumble, weave beneath the clouds,
Living their small lives,
Each as important as a king,And giants march underneath,
Confident, cruel, carefree,
Lovers and murderers and
Princes and peasants all,And gaze ever upwards, where
The stars beat down, surrounded by other
Planets - lives, deaths, eternities -
A million windows in to the past
While we are stranded in the present,And then the future,
A jungle of what ifs and maybes
Paths unknowable, until each step
Is caught and taken and made to be ours,And -
