This is based solely off of the sneak peek at the next book in the series that was posted by the authors.

Call didn't know what to do.
On one hand, he could bring Aaron back to life, and Tamara and Jasper could safely leave the island.
On the other hand, that also meant doing exactly what he had promised himself and everyone else he cared about that he wouldn't do.
But he didn't have many options here.
So he separated the options in his head into pros and cons.
'I get my best friend back and Tamara and Jasper get to leave safely.' Those were definitely pros.
'But, I have to become more like Constantine and I might end up staying here forever. Plus, I'm pretty sure Aaron would hate me forever if he found out what I did.'
For the life of him Call DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
For sure he'd give up anything and everything to get Aaron back, but the blonde would surely hate him for it. After all, Aaron always seemed to be that type of person. But it was also appealing in the way that both Tamara and Jasper got safely out of there-not that he really cared about what happened to Jasper, but he had come that far-but they would be mad at him too.
...Was there maybe a third option?
Maybe, if he promised Master Joseph he would stay, Tamara and Jasper could take Aaron and get safely away? But again that option meant him becoming more like Constantine.
And would Master Joseph even agree to this third option?
If he did, then it would absolutely be the better option for him and the rest of them, even if he had to become more like the Enemy of Death.
But if he didn't, then what would he do?
Would he try to bring Aaron back?
If Call failed though, and just ended up turning Aaron into a Chaos Ridden.....
God, he swore he would never forgive himself for that.
Of course, there was always the chance that bringing people back to life was possible, and Constantine had just gone about it the wrong way. But with Call's limited amount of knowledge regarding chaos magic and other forms of magic, it was hard to say.
But maybe it was worth trying to find out?
"Master Joseph." He spoke finally, meeting the gaze of the elder.
Master Joseph almost smirked at him before replying.
"So? Have you come to a decision?"
Call took a small step forward and set his shoulders. "I have another idea."
"Oh?"
"If you let Tamara and Jasper leave with Aaron's body, I'll stay here with you and you can teach me all about chaos magic."
There was silence, and through that silence echoed Tamara's desperate cry.
"No Call! Don't do it! We'll figure something out!"
But fear and desperation had taken over him and he hardly heard what she had said, his gaze was locked with Master Joseph's, silently pleading him to accept his option. He couldn't hear anything but his heart pounding in his chest.
Then Master Joseph smiled.
"Agreed."
~~~~~~~
Call stood with guilt and determination in his grey eyes as he watched Tamara and Jasper get dragged off the island by Chaos Ridden, hovering Aaron's body next to them.
But somehow, he couldn't find it in himself to regret what he did.
Maybe bringing people back from the dead was impossible, maybe it wasn't.
All he knew was that Aaron wouldn't be the test subject.
But maybe that was thinking too much like Constantine.
If there was anything Call knew for sure, it was that chaos magic couldn't bring people back.
But maybe soul magic could.
