It was maybe five years I think, yes five years ago. I lived in a small five room house, which I know it sounds big but it really wasn't, and it was in a small town in Costa Rica. Most of the town, which had a population of about 30 at the time, was surrounded by nature, and it was beautiful. There wasn't any thing too strange about the town, until people began to disappear without a trace. House pristine, belongings untouched, nothing was out of place. Now, most of the town began going to neighboring towns for assistance, like locks for doors, or just planks of wood to put in front of the door. I, on the other hand, did not. I didn't believe in all I this superstitious bull. "The spirits are not pleased" or "our gods have abandoned us". Ridiculous, I didn't do any if that. People stopped disappearing and everything was normal, at least for a short while. One night while eating dinner, there was a knock at the door. I went down the hall, and immediately felt that something was off, very off. I reached the door and as I placed my hand on the handle, a what I could only assume to be a teenager's voice say "knock knock" the tension I had felt previously felt had dispersed as quickly as it had been fabricated. I had believed to be a joke, so I responded with a "who's there?" The voice then chuckled, and other than that there was no response. I then opened the door and saw footstep at the door, but no where else. Since this was impossible, I decided my mind was playing tricks on me. This went on for a few days until I had to go to get more food, which wouldn't take terribly long. I returned with my groceries and walked up to my door. It was locked, and I left it unlocked. I cursed and moved to a window after placing the groceries on my door step. I tried to open it but it wouldn't budge. I then moved back to the door again to attempt to force it open. But as I approached, a deep monotone voice came from inside. "K n o c k k n o c k" this likewise, threw me into a panick. I began to back away as the door creaked open. "K n o c k k n o c k" a dark shadow slid from the house. I was now on the ground unable to move. I whispered to me "you are lucky, I will give a choice, give me another and you will be aloud to rejoice." I knew what it meant. I went into my home, and grabbed my axe. Went to my neighbor's house, and asked to enter. He kindly aloud this. I swung at his head, cutting it clean in two. I dragged him to the usual hill, and dumped him in with all the rest. It whispered in my ear "well done, but are no longer necessary, I will move to another town, and leave be" ever since the the "disappearances" stopped, and the others are none the wiser.
