"It all started when I was fourteen years old. It was the beginning of the summer holidays and Julia was on a family holiday in Mexico. Alex and I were getting ice cream when a guy our age who had just moved here introduced himself to us. We all became friends and got along well. He told us that he was obsessed with photography.
"During the night, a few weeks after we had met, a-"
"Oh, what are you kids doing in here?" An old lady in silk apparel interrupted, swinging the door open. "I was just looking for the bathroom, and here you two are, fooling around." Xavier and I share a look of shock. "Oh, don't be embarrassed, children. I remember doing it back in my day. Just remember to use protection and you'll be fine. You wouldn't want miniature versions of yourselves running around the place, now would we?" She laughed.
We shook our heads quickly and went back downstairs. Once we reached the bottom, we burst into fits of laughter.
"Who was that?" I asked in between giggles.
"You wouldn't believe me when I say this, but that's my mum's boss."
"Yeah, right."
"No joke." A smile was tugging at his lips, revealing pearly white teeth and a soft dimple on his left cheek.
As we were walking back, he asked me something. "Will you tell me the rest of the story?"
"That's a story for another time. I don't want to ruin tonight." With a shrug, we made our way to the snack table. Not long later, my dream had come true.
Chris Hemsworth winked at me.
I swear if Xavier wasn't there I would've passed out.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Ch-Chris Hemsworth just winked at me!" I fiercely whispered.
"No he didn't. Look." He gestured his hand to a girl walking seductively to him while he looked at her up and down with a smirk playing on his lips.
"He could've still winked at me," I muttered and crossed my arms.
I felt my phone vibrate in my clutch and I excused myself to answer the call. I left the house and stood on their front verandah. The caller ID showed that it was my brother.
"You need to come home. Now," he said in a shaky voice immediately after I answered the call.
"Why?" I asked.
"I can't talk about it on the phone. I can't pick you up. Please hurry." Then he hung up the phone.
What the hell was that about?
I went back inside and hurriedly tried to find Xavier. I bumped into a waiter standing by the door who was in a white shirt, black vest and a red bow-tie. He was holding a tray of champagne glasses which smashed on the floor. I bent down after muttering an apology and looked up to find out that it was Quentin.
"Quentin?" I asked.
"Audrey?" He asked. "Hi." He stood up, grabbing my hand and pulled me up next to him just to give me a hug. "I was meaning to call you about the other night but I never got the chance to."
"Yeah, yeah. That's fine," I rushed. "Do you know where Xavier is?"
"Is everything okay?" Xavier asked walking up to us.
"Yeah," Quentin replied.
"Xavier, I need a ride home."
Looking disappointed, he said, "Is it because of earlier?"
