Geography Club is fairly older, premiering in 2013, but does a fabulous job at displaying the struggles of in-the-closet teenagers and how they interact with their friends, partners, and other lgbtq members. It revolves around two boys from different social groups who begin to secretly date, and discover a secret society of other lgbtq members and a support group they've created to unite as a community. The movie follows the challenges the couple faces and it suggests at how the normalization of the gay community in high schools will continue to be a struggle even as society continues to grow more and more accepting. This movie used to be available on Netflix so check back in there to see if it has been made available again and if not, the movie is easily accessible online.
Trigger Warning: only some typical high school bullying scenarios and homophobia but nothing too extreme or violent. Suggestions of sex and hooking up but nothing shown on camera except kissing.
