Aaliyah P.O.V
“Mom, when was the last time I asked for a new phone?” I asked my annoying ass mom. She keeps complaining about me wanting a new phone. I still got this old ass galaxy from 2011.
“Aaliyah, I done already told you when you could get a new one.” She said wiping our kitchen counter off. I rolled my eyes.
“And when did you say again? I have bad memory” I said and she looked at me.
“Whenever you get your grades up Aaliyah. You already know you have to earn things in this house.” She said and I shook my head.
“Yea yea yea. I gotchu, watch by the end of this quarter imma have my new phone. Just wait on it!” I yelled walking out the house. I smile grew on my face as I seen my best friend Jamal waiting at the end of the drive way.
“Wassup short stuff” he said putting his arm around my shoulder. I smiled and playfully punched him in his stomach.
“Ouccch” he said laughing.
“Stop calling me that tall ass” I demanded as we made our way to school.
“Whatever, so what did your mom say this morning?” he asked and I rolled my eyes.
“The same ole shit.” I mumbled and he chuckled. I glared at him and he shutup.
“Well at least you have a phone.” He pointed out.
“Yea a shitty one!” I yelled as we crossed the street. He shrugged his shoulders and I pouted.
“Jamal, this is serious. I need a new phone. It’s May and we’ll be juniors soon.” I said
“Aaliyah what does that have to do with anything? I already told you come to me if you need help with work. You never listen!” he said and I laughed.
“I know, you always tell me that but I’m lazzzzzzy!” I yelled. He made us stop walking and looked at me.
“That’s not good young lady. I’ll be your new tutor for the rest of the year.” He said and I smiled.
“Sure, like you don’t have d’s in all of your classes.” I said shaking my head and started walking down the street again.
“Hey, I only have D’s because I’m too lazy to do the work.” He said and I shook my head ignoring him. He caught me by surprise as he picked me up from behind. I screamed and kicked my legs.
“Put me down asswipe!” I yelled but he didn’t listen. He held my waist and started walking down the street. People that don’t know us probably would call us a couple. Nah, Jamal and I have been friends since I could remember. I love him like a brother, nothing more.
“Girrrrl, what have you been eating” he said putting me back down. I turned around and slapped his shoulder.
“Don’t be calling me fat, little boy.” I said and he smiled.
“But you are” he said walking ahead. I rolled my eyes and followed him. We finally arrived at our school. He stopped walking and turned to me.
“Can we skip ?” he whined and I shook my head.
“Nope let’s go” I said dragging him to the main entrance.
“Aaliyaaaaaah” he whined.
“Mallllllllly” I said opening the door and pushing his tall ass in the school. We walked to our lockers and made our way to first period. We have all the same classes together, in the beginning of the school year I was happy as hell. Jamal and I are always together, everywhere I’m at… he’s there and the other way around.
