Aaliyah P.O.V

Jamal can we not go to this party?” I whined flopping down on his bed. It was Friday and this girl Tameka invited everybody to her birthday party. I didn’t have a problem with the girl it’s just that I’m not a party person. I’m the type to sit in a corner and watch everybody have a good time.

“Aaliyah were going. We haven’t done anything all week.” He said pulling out some black True Religion jeans. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest. He looked at me and smiled.

“You’ll have fun, I promise Aaliyah” he said and I sighed.

“I guess.” I mumbled looking at him. He blew me a kiss and walked into his bathroom. I smiled and shook my head. He play entirely too much. He came out the bathroom brushing his teeth and I shook my head.

“What is wrong with you?” I asked in disgust. He smiled with the tooth paste all around his mouth.

“The same thing that’s wrong with you.” He said before gurgling.

“Eww…” I mumbled and he poked his head out the door.

“I heard that.” He said and I chuckled.

“Imma go and find something to wear.” I said standing up. He walked out and put his sneakers on.

“I’m going with you. I wanna see how you clean up.” He said and I looked at him funny.

“Oh, you know what I meant.” He said rolling his eyes. I laughed as we walked down his steps. His mom walked into the house, smiling when she seen us.

“Hey Aaliyah, how are you?” she asked

“Hey Tanya and pretty good.” I said smiling. She walked straight past Jamal and he looked at her in disbelief.

“Well hello mother!” he yelled and she flagged him.

“Boy what do you want? Didn’t I see you this morning?” she asked and I chuckled. Jamal glared at me then turned back to his mom.

“You saw Aaliyah this morning also, did you forget?” he asked and she smiled.

“But I like her better, so she gets a greeting every time I see her.” She said before walking up the steps. I died laughing and Jamal brushed past me.

“Let’s go apple head!” He yelled and I walked out closing there door.

“Don’t be mad because ya mom likes her second child better.” I said putting my hands up in surrender. He rolled his eyes and opened my door. My dad appeared and Jamal stopped walking.

“Hey son, how it going?” my dad asked him putting his arm around his shoulder. Jamal chuckled and smiled.

“Good Mr. Thompson” he replied and my dad nodded.

“What you kids got planned tonight?” he asked

“Were going to a dumb party.” I mumbled and my dad looked at me.

“That sounds nice, I hope you guys have fun.” He said patting Jamal’s back and walking off.

“I was hoping he would have said I couldn’t go… but no!” I said walking up my steps. We walked into my room and I went straight to my closet. I started picking through my clothes and couldn’t find a damn thing.

“What should I wear?” I turned around and asked Jamal. He shrugged and I sighed. He’s no fucking help.

“What about them high waist shorts you bought last month?” he asked and I thought about it. I don’t even remember where I put them. I went to my dresser and started throwing clothes out my draws.
