They began talking and laughing and I stood between them like a ghost.
"What do you do in your free time then, Mr Denton?" Cacelia asked batting her eyelashes.
"I love reading," he said with sparkle in his eyes.
Great! Another thing that we have in common and another reason that makes me feel closer to you.
I know that I just met him but I just feel so close to him. There is something, something that makes me attracted to him.
"I like reading too," she said sweetly.
"No, you don't," I said frowning.
They both stared at me as if I was crazy or something. I think they were amazed that I was still standing with them. I don't know why I said that but I just couldn't remain silent while she continued lying.
"What are you talking about, sister?" She said giving me an I will kill you smile.
"You don't like reading. Actually, I never saw you reading," I said matter of factly.
"I read," she said angrily, a bit hurt, actually.
"If you name one book that you have read, I will do you one thing that you want," I said daringly.
She looked at me, thinking, "What will you do?"
"Anything that you want," I said sure that she would fail.
But she didn't, she smiled mischievously and said the name of a book that we both read together years ago, a book that papa forced her to read.
"Can you deny it, sister?" She said smirking.
I smiled with anger, "well played sister. Your turn, choose something that you want me to do"
She was about to open her mouth to say something but I stopped her.
"Not now. Think about it thoroughly. You have until tomorrow morning then I will hear your decision"
"Why?" Mr. Denton asked with a small frown.
"To choose wisely. This is a onetime chance. I never lose a dare to my sister," I said proudly.
He looked at me admirably and my heart skipped a beat.
"Amy, dear," Meg said coming to me, "may I have a word with you?"
I didn't want to leave them alone but I can't say no to Meg.
"Of course," I said with a smile then I curtsied," excuse me, Mr. Denton"
When we were away from them, I dropped the smile, "what's wrong?"
"You will have breakfast with me, tomorrow," she said with happiness in her voice.
I frowned, "why?"
"Because I want you to have breakfast with me"
I raised an eyebrow, "why?"
"Maybe because I love you"
"Just tell me why, Meg," I said fed up with the game.
She didn't answer but looked away. When I followed her gaze, I found her looking at Edward and Cecelia.
"Oh no! You are not playing matchmaking with me," I said shaking my head.
"Why not?" She asked pleadingly, "You will be amazing together"
"Because he already likes my sister and I am not going to fight with my own sister over a man"
"When he talks to you more, he will love you and forget about Cecelia"
