A/N: enjoy 😊

Oliver got back to her dorm with stress rolling off in waves. She thanked God her roommate was in class so she had time to be alone.

'Claws, glowing eyes...FUCK!' She thought putting her hand to her head.

He was a fucking shifter.
She sunk to the floor and tears streamed her eyes.

The irony of these turn of events, however astounding, was a brutal rip in her heart.

A reopening of those wounds she had spent years trying to close.
She thought of her family after that traumatic night for the first time in years.

The blood, the hatred, despair, the helplessness.
More importantly: the claw marks that left her family mangled. The supernatural strength that left her family undoubtedly overpowered.
The inability to identify the killers.

She knew of that world. The world of the Others.

She was riding her climax when she saw them. He pumped into her so fully, his eyes opened and they were glowing bright Green.
The subtle peek of canines from in between his sexy lips.
She felt the claws carefully scraping her neck and hips from where he kept his oh so perfect grip on her.

She knew a lot more than she let on. She had spent her lonely years researching, stalking, fighting the shifters.
Oliver also knew what the connection meant with her and Gio. She knew of the shifter's sexual drives but she knew enough to know that what she had with Giovanni was not that.

Oliver felt the connection with Giovanni. She saw the whisper of a word he held in his mind: mate.

She also spent those years doing something else. Seeking revenge.

Her hands were bloody and in the whole picture she knew that her own blood lust had little to do with all shifters but with her own problems with the murderers her family were victims to.
She also enjoyed the violence, enjoyed the pain she caused and got. It was her penitence for being left alive. Her way to punish the world and be punished for being left alive without the people who meant the most to her.

No one knew of this secret. No one knew or even suspected that Oliver had killed. That Oliver went in the ring with even the heavy weights and came back out all to go back in.

She definitely didn't plan on anyone finding out. Especially not her new found 'mate'.

She went on with her day acting as if nothing happened. That is what would keep her sane.
She went to lunch with her roommate, carried on conversation with strangers in the quad, she even went to a study group in the library.

She would act like a normal student...until night came and the monsters came out.

12 am rolled around and she drove to the inner city. The danger zone.

Greensboro, North Carolina was probably the last place you thought you'd find such danger, but there was everything everywhere.

She went to a rundown alley that had some sort of bar hidden in the back corner.
Everything about it checked out. She was positive, had she not been able to see through the glamour ( thanks to a certain witch) she wouldn't have found the place at all.

She walked up to the doors and was immediately stopped by a bouncer: a demon she presumed.
He was big and burly-
'guess that's why he's the bouncer' she thought humorously
"Sorry, sweetcheeks, but we don't let in your kind-" he leaned in and breathed on Olivers face.
'Smelled like death.' She nearly threw up all over him.
"Unless your looking to never leave."
She rolled her eyes and put her hand on his shirt seductively.
" I don't have any plans." She shrugged with a flirtatious smile. Oliver knew they let humans in, but only if they were sure they were stupid enough to look for danger. He opened the door and let me in.
'Idiot' she thought.
Oliver had an endgame for being here, and she planned to get her hands dirty.

He saw her talking to the bouncer and his heart lurch.
Gio had kept tabs on her all day after their amazing sex.
Even if she wasn't his mate, Gio wouldn't let a little thing like Oliver out of his reach.
He had an awful feeling in his stomach as he watched her come out of her dorm and go in town around midnight. He saw her approach an Other bar.
He mentally smacked himself.
'Of course his mate would be involved in this.'
He saw how fit she was. How agile she was. He assumed she just liked to stay fit.
The suspicion began to rise when he saw the many scars on her thigh, stomach, and arms.
He knew shifter marks when he saw them.
Anger was boiling when he saw her put his hand on the bouncers chest.
As she walked in he was already walking out of the shadows.

He disregarded the level 5 demon. You had to be a lot stronger than that to stop him.

He heard a ruckus from inside and rushed in hoping it wasn't too late. Hoping he hadn't lost his mate before they had even gotten a chance to-

Oliver was stepping on a shifters chest, wiping the blood off her lip.
There were two other shifters scattered over the bar trying to get up from an obvious Ass kicking.

"You've clearly forgotten what I do to scum like you that think they are above the law...simply because they are apart of the supernatural. "
The guy growled but her foot came straight to his throats cutting it off into a pitiful bark.
"Where's the V.D. Marc?? I know you've been selling it to humans, so let's skip the lying part and go straight to the truth."

"I doubt he could do either when your cutting off his air like that Oliver."
Oliver froze and looked up to find the one and only Giovanni.
She loosened her grip and the shifter took his opportunity. He grabbed her leg and slammed her on the floor. He was just about to rip out her throats when he was lifted like a pillow.

Gio slammed his knee into the guys head and knocked him out throwing him to the floor.
He walked over to her and bent down, coming within a distance to smell her delicious scent again.
She looked at him with embarrassment, shock, and the most surprising: relief.

"I suppose I've got a lot of explaining to do."
He smiled and he lifted her up.
"Yeah, I think I do too."
