Jack entered his cottage as he pulled his jacket off and fixed his plain white shirt. He took off his wet shoes and set them by the door before plopping himself on his small sofa. Currently renting an apartment in L.A., Jack was beginning to miss his home in Ireland. But he didn't want to miss too much for Christmas was just around the corner. He turned to see his green Christmas tree, full of lights of many colors, bring joy in the room. He smiled.
"Now, if only my family were here," he said. He wasn't talking about his family though, he was talking about his best friends whom he called his family. He looked out his window to see that snow was falling down and he ran to the window, eyeing the newly fallen powdered sugar. He smiled; he would jump around in the snow tomorrow but now was not the time. He turned on the TV, searching for something to watch and found one of his favorite childhood Christmas movies, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and watched it all.

The next day, Christmas Eve, was an exciting day for Jack because his gifts from all his friends arrived in the mail and were delivered to his door. There were several big boxes that he thought contained multiple gifts.
"Ah yes! My friends have brought me the joy of opening their gifts to me!" He laughed at what he said; he knew it wasn't just about the presents, but how much his friends cared about him so much. As he set the boxes by his tree, he realized that there was snow stuck on the ground.
"I need to jump around in the snow before it melts away," he said as he left his pajamas on, grabbed his coat, boots and slid a beanie over his scraggly green hair. As he stepped out, he felt a cold sensation hit his face, but he didn't mind. He breathed in the cool air as he ran across his lawn and fell face first in the snow. After laying there for some time, he got up and made a mini snowman.
"Ooh, it's cold. I should go inside and warm up." That's just what he did. Once he was dry in a new set of clothes, black skinny jeans and a long sleeved pale shirt that was loose near the collarbone. He made himself some cocoa with marshmallows and began to open the boxes just to get the gifts out and set them under the tree.
"Argh," he grumbled as he began to rip the tape off the first box he had. It was a pain and soon, Jack's hands were sore and became red just from tearing the tape off. He began to set each present underneath the tree while trying to fit larger ones around the stump. It took him an entire hour and a half just to do all this which tired him out so much, he fell asleep as his head rested against the couch.

He opened his eyes to reveal a beautiful white land, which was all snow. He looked around and saw sugar plums magically grown from the snow beneath him.
"Woah, that's crazy," he recalled to himself. He watched closely as the sugar plums, a bright violet color, appeared big and plump. He reached and grabbed one and stuffed it in his mouth as he felt the sugar sweeten his dry mouth. He closed his eyes and felt the sweetness take over him. Just as he opened his eyes, he heard fluttering and looked above him to see several small creatures that resembled girls, but as he neared he noticed they had wings like of a monarch butterfly. They were either a light pink, baby blue or the same shade as the sugar plums. They floated around Jack as Jack started spinning around, trying to get a good look at each of them. Unfortunately for him, this caused him to get dizzy and a headache came over him. He heard small giggles that came from the fairies.
"Who are you?" They gave no response. The fairies continued to circle him before they flew away.
"I see you have found the sugar plum fairies."
"Who's there?" Jack was unaware of the unknown voice and he faced a man with whiskers who looked like a general. He wore an outfit of black and his shirt had several gold buttons on with a royal blue cape flowing behind him. He had some brownish-blonde hair with a blue crown sitting atop as Jack noticed he had the ears of a mouse. He could also see a little tail from behind the stranger.
"It is I, Felix the rat king." He walked over to Jack, holding a white staff which held a foggy ball on the top. Jack gulped, not knowing what may happen.
"Listen young one, may I ask your name?"
"It's... Jack," he hesitated just a bit. Felix smiled at him, realizing he was taller than him by a few inches. Jack quickly pulled together a nervous smile as he looked up at Felix. Suddenly, the world around Jack began to slowly fade before Felix held his arm. Jack looked up to Felix; he was talking but the only part Jack could make out was,
"I will be waiting." Felix and everything else faded as Jack opened his eyes to find that it was now 1:30 in the afternoon.
"Wow, what a dream," he said as he picked himself up. He threw the rest of his cocoa away as he headed into the kitchen. He didn't have much besides Christmas cookies, gingerbread cookies, popcorn, and variations of candy canes. For lunch, he figured a popcorn and some sugar cookies would go well. As he put a bowl of popcorn in the microwave, he heard the doorbell ring. He cursed under his breath as he headed towards the door, opened it, but found nobody there. He looked around and was about to shut the door before he looked down to see a box right in front of his doorstep.
