I realized when I was very young that the pictures in my house would predict death. A day or so before grandpaw died, his photo was gone from every family photo. I remember the tears when I saw the empty frame where my father once stood, smiling in his military gear. Still, I could have never been prepared the day that I found every single picture frame in the house, all completely blank.
