Heller! I'm just going to say this right now, this chapter will mostly be a flashback. So yeah. I wanted to write it, but she won't let me. THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE MEAN! Guilty. 😌

Eren's POV

The song was Mom's song. The one she always wanted me to sing. The one I always refused to sing. The one that caused the wreck.

*flashback*

Mom, Mikasa, and I are going to go to a park today. Yeah, I'm 14, but I still like going to the park. Mainly because going to the park means Grisha isn't home.

We've already got our food at Burger King, so next stop is the park. Mom has the radio on, tuned to a country station.

Mikasa pokes my side. "Eren. Let's play 20 questions. Please?"

I roll my eyes. "Fine." I love playing 20 questions, so she knows I'm not really mad.

Mikasa taps a finger on her chin. "I got it!"

"Okay, is it a living thing?"

"No." She shakes her head.

"Is it.... A piece of clothing?" I have a feeling I know what it is.

She frowns a bit. "Yes."

I grin. "Is it red?"

Her arms cross on her chest. "Yeah."

"It's my old scarf." She seethes in her seat when she nods. I gave Mikasa the scarf when we first met. It was late fall, and all she had was a small jacket, so I wrapped my scarf around her head. She's had it ever since.

"You always win. How?!" I shrug with a smile.

"Hey Mom, which park are we going to this time?" There's two parks we always go to, but we switch it up when we go.

I see Mom smile in the mirror. "Guess."

"The one with the ice cream cart?" One park has a lot of things to do, like a basketball court, a frisbee field, a big play structure, and a soccer field. The one with the ice cream cart only had a big play structure, but the ice cream makes up for it.

Mikasa and I pump our fists when she nods. Mom's laugh fills the car. Everything goes quiet when we hear a guitar on the radio. Mom's favorite song, "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. Mikasa looks to me and opens her mouth, but I cut her off.

"No."

She sticks her bottom lip out, and pouts. "Aw... Please Eren? You're voice is so pretty when you sing!"

Mom's voice floats from the front seat. "Please? Just this one time? You sing any other song."

I cross my arms. "I sing other songs because they aren't sang by girls. I'm not singing a girl song."

Mikasa huffs. "If you sing, then it would be a guy song. Because of I'm correct, you are a guy, right?"

"That's not the point. I'm not singing it."

"Oh, come on Eren. I swear, if you sing it this one time, we will never ask you to do it again." Mom and Mikasa have been trying to get me to sing it forever. But nope, not gonna happen.

"No."

Mom makes eye contact with me in the mirror. "Pretty please?"

They're starting to make me mad. If I've said no before, I'm not gonna say yes this time. "I said no, dammit! Now leave me alone!"

"Eren Yeager!" Mom turns in her seat to look at me. I faintly hear Mikasa gasp at the words out of my mouth. "I don't ever want to hear those words from you again!"

Mikasa screams. When Mom whips her head back to the road, she gasps, and slams her breaks, but it's too late. The truck hits us in the side, jerking me. I feel the metal push into my legs as everything goes around and around. The sound of glass breaking, and the faint stinging of it cutting my face. Metal crunches, and I hear Mom scream. When everything comes to a rest, I blindly scramble out of my seatbelt. It looks like we landed on our wheels, what a miracle. I look over to see Mikasa also got out of her seatbelt, but neither of our doors will open. They're too crunched. But the windows are shattered. I bring my fist back, and punch through mine, easily breaking it. I throw Mikasa out first, not caring when the broken glass scratches her. When I grab Mom's hand and yank, she screams in pain.

"Eren, baby, get out. Please." Tears run down her face. "My legs are stuck. Get out."

I see her thighs, but that's it. Everything else is smashed. The car is smoking, but I can't let Mom stay in here. I can't let her die.

I feel Mikasa yanking me out the window, and I scream. My cheeks are soaked with tears.

"No! We can't leave her! Mikasa let go of me!" I kick, but she still wrestles me back. I finally get free and run towards the car. Then I hear a giant boom and a ball of light. I'm blown back several feet, and I lay there stunned. The car. It blew up. Mom was still inside. No. She has to still be alive.

"Mom!" Mikasa pulls me back again, and I'm surprised to see the 16-year-olds eyes. Mikasa never cries. That means... She's gone. Moms really gone.
