Chapter Ten

Kurt's Point of View

I think what just happened between Blaine and I could be considered ‘a moment’ we were both looking at each other then suddenly Blaine got really shy and went to look at his hands but then his gaze instantly returned to me and we both just smiled. It was cute, he was cute.

Actually he was gorgeous but I hardly think I can say that after I’ve just gone on about taking things slow. I went to rest my head on his shoulder again and closed my eyes, I could feel Blaine put his arm around me as we just sat there on the bench happy to just be in each other’s company.

After about 5 minutes I felt some movement from Blaine I opened my eyes to see him reaching into his pocket for something. He pulled out his iPod and the screen flashed to life as he unlocked it. He passed me one of the headphones and set it to shuffle.

A song I don’t think I’ve heard before started to play, I looked at the screen a song called ‘Deer in the Headlights’ by an artist called Owl City was playing. Blaine was quietly singing along when the chorus kicked in. He didn’t seem to care that we were in public and started belting it out.

“tell me again was it love at first sight when I walked by and you caught my eye didn’t you know love could shine this bright? Well smile because you’re the deer in the headlights!” he even got up and started doing some kind of little dance. The headphone popped out my ear so I couldn’t hear the song anymore but I didn’t really care because Blaine was singing.

He truly had an amazing voice I was laughing at his dancing but secretly admiring him from the bench.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me up to dance with him and placed the headphone back in my ear. I smiled and tried to follow some kind of strange move he was doing. We both laughed as the song finished.

I was about to sit down when ‘it only takes a moment’ from hello dolly started to play. Suddenly I was pulled into his arms and we were waltzing. At first our footing was all wrong because we were both trying to lead but seeing as this was Blaine’s ‘date’ I let him lead this one time, even if he was shorter than me. It was kind of cute that Blaine knew how to waltz, I liked that because we didn’t know each other we could just surprise each other every time we learnt something new about each other.

 ‘It only takes a moment for your eyes to meet and then, your heart knows in an in a moment you will never be alone again I held him for an instant but my arms felt sure and strong it only takes a moment to be loved a whole life long.’

He started to sing along again. I liked how he changed the words to make it, well sexuality appropriate. He started to mouth the dialogue in the next part of the song over dramatically, and right at that moment I felt like I was in the musical; I felt so loved and in love with this guy I hardly even knew, just like the song.

Maybe love at first is real and all my silly fantasies about my first relationship are just that, silly fantasies. Maybe it is possible to fall in love with someone after one day. Maybe musicals hold the key to true love.

The chorus/ensemble part of the song started to play and I looked down into his eyes only to be filled with more admiration and adoration. He was looking at me smiling, he looked so happy and for that moment we just swayed to the song, I giggled slightly, I was nervous but happy.

A stranger walked by and gave us a strange, disgusted look which made me giggle more. Not even random passers-by who judged us instantly could get me down, I felt on top of the world.

“He held me for an instant but his arms felt safe and strong it only takes a moment to be loved a whole life long.” I sung the female part of the song towards Blaine
