Ebony Steele
The wet grass covered in sleep was soft under my shoes. Red, yellow and orange leafs fell from the trees as I walked through the dirt path, the moon being my only source of light.
The wind starts to pick up and I pull my jacket tighter around my body. My hair flies wildly with the wind until I gather my brown hair in my hands and using the ponytail around my wrist to tie my hair out of my face.
The air calmed a few moments later and I continued my way down the path. I turned around making sure I didn't wake anyone in the house, but from the distance I can see all the lights are still off. I breathe a sigh of relief and walk down the path till the grass starts thinning out and is replaced by stone and soon the stone is replace by water.
I take my shoes off, putting them to the side, before dipping my toes in the cold relaxing water. I just sit there with my feet in the water before laying on my back on the hard cold stone ground beneath me, staring at the night sky.
Footstep coming from the dirt path catch my attention but I don't move to see who it is. The footstep stop and I'm guessing the person sees me because they sigh. The footsteps get louder as they get closer until I see the person is sitting beside me, looking into the ocean.
I look over and notice it's a boy. He has hazelnut brown curly hair and looks to be around my age but his back is to me so I can't tell for sure. I slowly sit up and turn my head to get a better look at him. He has hazel eyes, a straight nose, thin lips and a chiseled jaw.
He looked at me for a second then turned back to the water. "What are you doing out here? It's 4 o'clock in the morning." I asked
"I could ask you the same thing." his voice is deep and velvety.
"I don't sleep much." my answer is short but it's enough for him to look at me and raise his eyebrow in question.
I look back up at the full moon above us and thought about the real reason I'm not asleep, I sleep walk. When I was younger around 5 years old I started moving off my bed an onto the floor in my sleep. Once I was 6 I started moving from my bed to the living room couch during the middle of the night. When I was 8 I went to sleep in my bed room and woke up on my neighbors front lawn. I was taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with somnambulism. When I was 15 I started using objects while asleep. I had forgotten to lock my door that night and ended up in the kitchen. Not my favorite way to wake up stabbing myself in my hand with a fork.
"Vince Stinson." The boy, Vince, said breaking me out of my daze. His hand was stretched out for me to shake
"Ebony Steele," I replied, putting my hand into his weakly, shaking it lightly before pulling away and laying back down on the stone continuing to look up at the sky till sunrise.
A/N: Vincent Stinson is played by Daniel Sharman! Picture on the side >>
