It was Harry who asked the question.
I sighed heavily.
"I suppose it's time I explained." I began.
"You don't have to you know Heather. Why should you? They didn't notice." Iris said, clearly frustrated.
She always became protective over things like this, and I guess she was right. Why should they have the opportunity to treat me differently? I carried on all the same.
"It's fine Iris. Basically I've had bad vision since I was born, and when I got to the age of around 4 I lost it completely. I don't really remember ever being able to see, but sometimes I can see shadows and stuff. Like, I can tell if I'm in a really bright room compared to a really dark one."
All if could hear was the hum of electricity as the boys processed the information I'd told them.
"So, why didn't you tell us?" Asked Louis and I shrugged.
"I don't know. It's not like it's the only thing that defines me, you know? People probably judge you by the fact that you're famous all the time but that's clearly not the only thing you are." I replied, content with my answer.
"That actually makes complete sense." Liam spoke up.
"Any specific things you want to know?" I asked, trying to speak over what could have been an awkward silence.
"What's it like?" Asked Harry. I heard Iris sigh angrily but I ignored her and answered his question.
"Normal" I said, and they waited for more of an answer.
"Cover your eyes" I said, and waited for them to do so. "It's like that but all the time. It's hard to explain, and no it does not give me a magical 6th sense."
"That's weird... no, well not weird but cool... but yeah, oh is that the time?" Niall said awkwardly.
I heard a phone alert go off.
"I just got a text, there's a car outside. We should be going, thanks again for letting us wait here." Liam said.
"Oh, well this was nice." Iris said as she walked towards the door with the others.
"Yeah it was actually" Liam said to her, "we should keep in touch."
What? OMG.
"Oh, that would be nice." Iris replied, and I heard her phone keys tapping as they swapped numbers.
What just happened?!
"Bye then, happy travels." I mentally slapped myself at my stupid remark but Iris was already opening the door and closing it again after them.
She squealed after the door clicked shut.
"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Did you hear that? He wants to keep in touch! Heather Heather Heather Heather HOW GREAT IS THIS?!" Iris said having a fangirl attack.
I was speechless.
"Woah." I finally breathed and Iris slowed down.
"What do we do now?" She asked and I have to say, I had no idea.
•••••••••••
I woke up the next day and got out of bed, staying in my pyjamas as I trudged downstairs to get some breakfast. I went over to the third cupboard from the right and took out a box of my favourite cereal. I opened the next cupboard and removed a bowl and cutlery, then got some milk from the fridge. I took the items over to the table and sat down, beginning my breakfast. I jumped when I heard the shrill ringing of Iris' phone.
"I'll get it!" she shouted and thudded downstairs, picking her phone up.
After a series of okays, yesses and laughter she hung up.
"Heather, you will not fudging believe who just called me."
"Who?" I asked calmly.
"LIAM!!!" Iris squealed (I swear I could hear her jumping up and down).
It took me a second to come to terms with who she was talking about, and when I did I immediately got up and joined Iris in her jumping.
I suddenly stopped.
"Wait, what did he want?" I asked.
"This is the amazing news, he invited us to come backstage to one of their concerts! They arranged cars and everything, and I didn't think you'd enjoy it but then I remembered that you're not an idiot and you wouldn't want to pass up on a chance to hang out with One Direction and listen to their music live and on top of that there will be free food at the after party but we'll have to wear something nice which means we need to go shopping but the concert's tomorrow so we'll have to go today a-"
"Iris, breathe!" I cut her off, and she went completely silent.
"Sorry" she said after a few minutes, "but you're going to need to get dressed. We have some shopping to do."
