When I walked down, Chiron, Lucius and the satyr I saw were still there. "Well," Lucius said noticing me at the stairs, "he's alive." I shuddered. Definitely don't recommend going to your nearest Oracle without permission.
"So," Chiron began. "What was the Prophecy?"
I took a shaky breath but managed to recite the lines:
The Leader of the Quest shall make their assist;
A young hero shall begin to use the mist;
Upon the goddess's crown, all before sundown;
And the 3 heroes our forced to use their fists.
When I was finished Lucius and Chiron looked nervously at each other. "This isn't good," Lucius muttered which I have no idea on how I heard him. "I've feared this day will come." He said. "Here," he handed me a whip. It was a dark color of red with a slight tint of orange. The hilt was pretty warm and it felt comfortable. The rope part was at least 7-8 inches pretty much, it was long."Whoa," I said astoundedly, looking at it. "What does it do?"
A small smile played around Chiron's lips. "Press the button at the bottom of the hilt." He told me. I saw the button and pressed it. Immediately the whip mechanicalized into a 3 foot long bronze sword. The hilt was now brown and wrapped in leather. The blade was bright enough to see my own reflection through it.
"Whoa," I said. "That is pretty cool." I slashed with the sword. "Whoa!" Lucius screamed. He ducked and the sword barely missed his horns. How have I not noticed that? I looked for the button at the hilt and pressed it. Almost immediately, it turned back into a normal whip. "It is called Omega," he said. "It once belonged to Peleus. Your father made it for him. This sword has been passed down to dozens of heroes, use it when needed." I realized for a moment, had Chiron called me a hero? I attached Omega to my belt, "Thank you, sir." Chiron grinned. "Any favors, you need, Crispus. Come to me." I nodded then went out.The next few days at Camp felt great. In sword practice, Bella and I would go 1v1. She mostly won some of those rounds though. Wrestling, there's no way I was gonna pull it off. Especially when you got Clarisse the Camp bully and Head Counselor of Cabin 5 as your opponent, things would get even messier. Archery, Chiron had too reposition my bow many times because I was about to aim the arrow at myself
Also, one of them hit a kid in the butt and he was in the Infirmary for a 2 days. Then Chiron called me to the Big House again. This time the man that I saw a few days ago was there again. "Ahh yes," he didn't look up at me, "If it isn't Christopher Aadland."
"Uhh, it's Crispus Allen, and who do you thi-" the man grabbed my shoulder and instantly I got the weird visions: People getting choked by grapevines;
Bloodshed on a war front;
Soldiers getting turned to Dolphins. Why, I had no idea.
He then went back to playing cards with Lucius. "You were saying," he said. "Christopher?" I walked away. Probably not the best move on my part but I needed to talk to Chiron one way or another. Then someone gripped my shoulder. "Crispus, you do realize that's Mr. D, right?" I glanced over his head. What I saw was a goatee bearded man with a purple Hawaiian shirt, an empty Diet Coke can set on the table and sand colored shorts. "Nope," I said. He sighed, "Just try to be cool around, Mr. D? For me?" He gave me a pretty-please smile.
"Fine," I said at last.
"Yay!" He squeezed me into a hug.
"Okay! Okay!" I yelled, wincing.
"Oh! Sorry." He apologized. He let me down. "But, thank you."
"Are you playing or not?" Mr D. said like he was tired.
"Yes." Lucius replied he trotted off to the table. I for one, was about to have a conversation with the wise, old centaur himself. I didn't realize Chiron was in front of me until he cleared his throat. As soon as I heard that sound I sat up perfectly straight and put my arms at my side like a soldier. "You're not really a listener type of student aren't you?"
I changed my posture, "Nope."
He sighed. "Very well, you shall leave for your quest tomorrow. You shall have two people to accompany you."
"But," I interrupted. "Can we have more?"
"The rules are only three people. You may choose."
I looked at Lucius who was looking our way, nodding. "Well, I choose Lucius and-" Just then the air became visible and a familiar figure appeared right next to Chiron. "I'll volunteer," Bella said letting go of her necklace.
"I can't ask you to do this for me, y'know?"
"Well," she summoned her sword. "Unless you wanna fight for it."
I rolled my eyes. "Okay, you can be in the Quest."
She smirked. "That's what I thought, doofus."
"And you're still a dweeb." I replied back.
"And you're a-"
"Okay," Chiron said riled, "You leave early tomorrow."
Bella spun the sword shrinking into a some sort of purple orb. "Sweet," we both said at the same time. We then walked back to our cabins and Bella moved a little towards my shoulder. "You know I'm still up for a fight." She said close to my ear.
I grinned, "You'll get that fight very soon, Watson. Just watch."
