I surprisingly wasn't exhausted or tired at all so I decided to run home instead of walk. By the time I got there, I was out of breath. But I wanted to get home quickly in case it started storming again.

"Alexa, where were you?" my mom asked me with concern.

I shrugged. "I got caught up in the storm when I was coming home from the park." She looked puzzled. I hadn't told her about the park or Liam. She had probably thought I was doing some sort of after-school activity even though I have never done one in my life (ahem, social outcast). "I went there with a new friend that I met at school." I added.

I told her how I had stayed at the Hughes' house during the storm for shelter. I explained how nice of a family they were and like I expected, my mom said she wanted to meet them some time. Shocker.

"Well, we haven't had dinner yet anyway because of the storm, but the chicken enchiladas are ready so we can eat right now." she beamed. I nodded and briskly made my way over to the table.

My sister sat to my left and my brother to my right. My brother was eyeing me suspiciously. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"What?" I demanded.

He didn't say anything. Just kept giving me that odd suspicious look.

"Seriously, Josh. Why are you looking at me like that? It's freaking me out and-

"Alexa, please." my mom interrupted sternly. She placed three separate plates of chicken enchilada in front of each of my siblings and I.

"Sorry." I mumbled, sarcasm evident in my tone of voice.

"You really really really wanna know why I was looking at you weird?" Josh teased.

"Yes." I replied immediately. "Now tell me or I'll shove this fork up your-

"Alexa, what has gotten into you?!" my mom half-shouted. She pursed her lips.

"If you're gonna have an attitude and speak inaproppriately to your brother, you can go enjoy dinner in your room."

I shook my head, laughing. "You are being so unfair."

"Oh, please." my mom said, rolling her eyes. "Life isn't fair. That's how it is. And this is ridiculous, Alexa! Go up to your room right now."

"Oh, I'd be happy too." I told her. I picked up my plate and carried it and myself up to my bedroom.

I set my plate down on my bed, and then slumped down onto the floor. I put my head in my hands.

My mom and I rarely ever fought.. what was going on? Josh was the one who had really started the argument. If he would just be a normal brother. Ugh.

I pulled my plate down into my lap. I began to eat, piece by piece. I was a slow eater. I finished 45 minutes later, then just sat there staring at the ceiling for a long time.

Then Josh burst into my room. "Get out!" I demanded, hopping up to my feet.

"Why were you on the floor? Were you crying?" he snickered.

"Of course not!" I yelled, my cheeks hot. I hated him.

My mom came running up the stairs.

"Josh, please get out of there. Alexa is obviously in a bad mood, you don't want to mess with her right now. Don't even go near her." She glared at me.

Josh walked out of my room and slammed the door behind him. I needed to get away from my house for a little bit.

I kind of just lied on my bed for a while, trying to think of places I could go, when my phone dinged.

I checked my phone. It was a text message from some boy named Niall. Who was he?

It was a group message. This Niall guy had sent this message to 65 people. Holy crap.

The message read " Party tonight @ Stacey's. Spread the word! Starts now, come whenever. " Stacey's address was copied below the text.

I quickly changed into a aqua-blue crop top and white high waisted shorts. Sure, it was a school night, but I didn't care. I needed to get away from my family. I just had to sneak out.
