PROLOGUE
'Fighting the demons rarely makes them leave, but if we befriend them, we're on the same team.'

She's breathless and scared as he advances, a small smile playing on his lips, as he twirls around a key chain around his index finger. Her heart's igniting in it's cage while she exhales trepidation. And it smells, an alleviating perfume of vanilla and cocoa butter, lingering as he leans forward to peruse her. Her expression is almost flawlessly imperceptible, although her breathing gives her away.
"Excited, aren't we?" He's teasing her, she's sure of it, which makes her clench her teeth and reluctantly look away from those mesmerizing eyes. She hasn't decided whether or not if he's the antagonist of her story or not, even if his supposed ignorance had led to her best friend's death.
"Don't come close," She breathes, taking another step back to meet the ice of the stone cold exterior wall of the Braxten dorm. "Just leave me alone, please. If it's money you want, you can have it, just leave me alone."
For a second she thinks she sees the perturbed expression on her face, but it's only a second and she wonders if she's starting to hallucinate. But then his jaw hardens, and the look reappears again, although this time it's mixed in with aggravation.
"It seems as if you don't understand," his tone is soft and somewhat condescending like always, although this time it seems as if it's dripping in irritation. But she's too focused on the way he smells like heaven and how his arms were being placed on either side of her, caging her in and overdosing her with his scent. "I'm not the villain."
And he's so close, his lips only a few inches away, but his eyes remind her that he's a galaxy away.
It's not in the script, but if he decides to kiss her right now, she wouldn't mind.
"Cut!" A short girl with brown hair says, a grin on her face and her thumbs up, unaware of her peeling name tag. Although it wasn't that important, as long as you could see the 'KAREN WAILT' on it. "Great job, you guys!"
But it doesn't come. Instead, he breaks away from her and her hopeful eyes, an amused smile on his lips as he looks away from her.
So that's how it's going to be.
But that's alright as well, because if it was games that he wants to play, she'll play along.
So she smiles, because he's a fool. After all, she's invincible.

A/N:
... I should have really called this a sneak-peak instead of a prologue, but oh well. It's only short because I didn't want to give away too much. c; Thanks for reading, and I'd appreciate whatever feedback you have!
